DETROIT – The Horizon League and Olympia Entertainment will gather industry leaders to discuss experiences in athletics at a Champions Brunch at Joe Louis Arena on Tuesday, March 7, at 10:00 a.m., prior to the Little Caesars Horizon League Women’s Basketball Championship Game at noon.

The brunch is open to the public and for $25 attendees receive a ticket to the Champions Brunch and a game ticket to the women’s and men’s championship games. Or, fans with a game ticket can purchase a Champions Brunch ticket for $15. To purchase, click here.

Former three-time WNBA Champion and four-time All-Star, Cheryl Ford has been named one of three panelists to speak inside the Olympia Club at Joe Louis Arena. Over the next three weeks, the remaining panelists and moderator will be announced.

The Champions Brunch will begin with a breakfast at 10:00 a.m. followed by a panel focusing on key topics relating to athletic administrators along with former professional and collegiate standouts at 10:30 a.m.

The brunch will commence with closing remarks from Horizon League Deputy Commissioner Julie Roe Lach who brings over 20 years of knowledge in intercollegiate athletics.

“As a league with a proud basketball past and continuing national prominence, we are excited to bring together experts from many levels of athletics to discuss topics of current interest in a variety of sports related fields” said Horizon League Commissioner Jon LeCrone.

Biographical Information about the Panelists:

Cheryl Ford was drafted as the No. 3 overall pick in the first round by the Detroit Shock in the 2003 WNBA Draft. In her first year, Ford led the Shock from a worst to first record and a WNBA championship in 2003. She was the first player to have won the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award and a WNBA Championship in the same year. The Summerfield, La. native and daughter of former NBA great Karl Malone played her college ball at Louisiana Tech and was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003.
