Haunted Attractions
» “Nightmare at Dole Plantation:” “Three attractions, one location, endless screams,” 64-1550 Kamehameha Highway, presented in partnership with “Nightmares Live” through Oct. 31. “Honolulu City Haunts” is a three-hour walking tour, Thursdays and Saturdays, with visits to haunted hot spots in Honolulu such as Iolani Palace, the state Capitol and Alakea and Nuuanu streets, with a storyteller who talks about the spooky locations. Cost: $39; $29 for ages 7 to 11. “Orbs of Oahu” is a nighttime driving tour, five hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and select weekends, with visits to spooky places around the island such as Nuuanu Pali, Ulupo Heiau, Manoa Chinese Cemetery and Paradise Park. Cost: $59; $49 for ages 10 and 11. The “Sacred Spirits Eco-Cultural Day Tour” is another five-hour tour offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with visits to sacred Hawaiian spots such as Nuuanu Pali, Waimanalo, ancient trails, heiau and waterfalls; learn about menehune and night marchers. Cost: $59; $49 for ages 7 to 11.
» “Walk with the Dead”: Steven Fredrick leads tours to haunted sites related to the dark side of historic Honolulu. Keiki of all ages are invited to dress in costume and enjoy free activities with paid admission. Featuring a Haunted Zone and Fun Zone, trick-or-treating, carved and painted pumpkin contests, crafts and more, with a Mad Science presentation at 5:30 p.m., menehune costume contest at 6:30 p.m., judging of pumpkin contest at 7 p.m. and keiki and family costume contest at 7:30 p.m. Additional activities (for a fee) include animal tours, face painting, temporary tattoos and character photos.
