Happy weekend, friends!! I'm looking at the calendar realizing that we're almost at May and that means there's only 1 month of school left! How in the world did we get to the end of the school year so soon?!?! Well, just one more month 'til all hell breaks loose with two kids at home this summer. ;) This will be new for me, you moms of more than one several years apart will have to tell me how you handle the summer months.
At the end of this school year will be a big celebration with kindergarten graduation. I actually just got choked up even typing those words. At 6 years old, the person that was once my little baby, is now a full-fledged, independent boy with a mind and personality all his own! You think I'd be nonchalant with that by now, but I still marvel at how grown up my son is becoming lately! Let's take a hard turn to fashion talk before I get all weepy on you!

*for sizing purposes, keep in mind I'm a super shorty (5'0 or 5'1 on a good day, athletic build, and currently about 115 pounds, with those 5-10 extra pounds (mostly) in my postpartum belly and nursing boobs! I always put the size I'm wearing in purple italics for you for reference.
First up, a date night look from last weekend in this polka dot blouse that hides dessert! paired with hot pink heels for a punch. I'm also wearing my new fave white skinny jeans since I still can't fit comfortable into my old favorite pair! These have plenty of stretch and small front pockets. I'd say they run true to size also.

On Saturday, we got to go to the pool. After days and days of rain, we suddenly had the clearest blue skies and sunshine all around. Grandma came over and babysat Jordan while my hubby, James and I hit the pool for a little while. The best game at the pool to get James and I playing together is squirt gun fight where you get a certain number of points for each body part hit (i.e. 20 points for the booty, 10 points for a knee, 5 points for a shoulder, but you lose all your points if you hit the face).

I've gotten braver about running errands with a newborn lately, it takes some courage or getting used to breastfeeding in public. If possible, I just feed Jordan in the comfort of my car, but a button down top or dress definitely makes things easier. I found this striped linen dress that worked great, but linen tends to wrinkle so that's a downside of having a baby on your lap. ;) The dress is so cute though! Even the sleeveless version here & here (on sale).

I've long lusted after this grey Splendid top (also comes in black) and finally bit the bullet, but am so glad I did because I've already worn it several times. Perfect with these jean shorts. The top is super thin and lightweight, a tad shorter in the front and longer in the back, with 3/4 length sleeves. It's one of those tops you put on that is effortlessly chic. Wear it casually on the weekend or dress it up with a skinny jean, heels and necklace for date night. I could also see wearing it with a maxi skirt (30% off) for something different.

Back in the comfort of my own closet, I tried on a few things I'd ordered online and had some hits and misses. I like showing you both, so you can get an idea of what might (or might not) work for you too.
Man, I wish this dress fit, it's darling in person! I couldn't get the back to zip all the way up! I may have shed a tear over this one. ;( If you're smaller up top, it would be super cute on you for summer. Think of all the parties you could wear it to and accessorize the neckline!

Do you stand on your tip toes too when trying on things?! I think it's an attempt to see what it would look like with heels.
This dress got great reviews as being a great day to night dress with a racerback. But, it's so big, even the XS is swallowing me! Definitely order a size down! This is why you can't always judge something by how it looks on the model.

Of course, my love of rompers never ends! I'm still super happy with this one! The romper below is cute and ties in the back, also comes in olive and green. The material is crepey, 98% polyester/2% spandex.
