Lighting has a purpose of course-to help us see, enabling us to complete tasks be it cooking, working or trying to sleep, setting the ambience and mood of your home and equally helping to shift your mood be it work-ready or chill out time.
We are currently viewing house after house with a plan to move soon and I’m plotting our style (this does shift a little depending on what kind of property we view) but in my head I have an idea of how I want to design my new home. Modern with a vintage feel, a 50′s style kitchen with SMEG fridge and polka dot Laura Ashley curtains in the lounge. Warm, welcoming open spaces, wooden floorboards, russet red floor rugs, functional boys bedrooms in off white with bright blue and yellow beds, the master bedroom mininal (with a king size bed to fit us all) guest rooms with four poster beds, pretty, soft white carpets (not for little shoe prints)…A home to house our much loved antique furniture along with the new, distressed and modern pieces, the latter mostly from IKEA. My own oil paintings and our collection of modern art filling the walls, a million photos of our family, leather sofas that fit us all…you get the idea!
I actually spend most nights lusting after home furnishings on Pinterest (my new addiction) and look at these lights below from Dar Lights and Endon Lights: so dramatically stunning, they’d be perfect for a dining room or bedroom.
So as you can see the lights are sorted, I just need to find my new home. Details, details (literally)…
