Wine lecture and tasting: Wines for the holidays

Anthony Lamonaca and Ben Golden, certified wine specialists and importers of fine wines, will present an evening of fine Italian wines to be enjoyed during the holiday season. Anthony and Ben will select only the finest wines to be served as a compliment to any holiday gathering.

Sal Cucullo, executive chef and owner of The 808 Bistro Restaurant in Scarsdale, will provide accompanying tastings from his acclaimed menu.

Culinary for children: Holiday cookies

Celebrate the season with these festive treats. Participants will be making batches of all-time favorite Italian cookies–struffoli, pizzelle, and holiday biscotti–to take home or wrap them up as holiday gifts. These are so yummy, it’ll be hard to give them away.

Events at the Lutheran Church

Prayer services

Held regularly on the last Saturday of the month. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. following the regular Saturday service, these brief moments for meditation and prayer offer personal prayers at the altar and the ancient tradition of anointing with oil.

New course offering

The new class is The Old Testament–a survey course of the Old Testament, its literature and importance in preparing for the coming of the Messiah and the covenant history between God and his people. This session runs on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. from November 26 through December 10 and is taught by Rev. Travis Yee. To register or get more information, call Pastor Hartwell at

Tuckahoe School Foundation to host 11th annual Casino Night

The Tuckahoe School Foundation will host its 11th annual Casino Night on Saturday, Nov. 23 at the New York Athletic Club on Travers Island in Pelham Manor.

Tickets to this evening of fun, food and prizes are $90 in advance or $100 at the door, which includes a cocktail hour, dinner buffet and an evening of Las Vegas-style table games. For more information, please log on to www.tuckahoeschoolfoundation.com.

The Tuckahoe School Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The annual fundraising event is the foundation’s only fundraiser and provides the largest means of support for all the programs and grants they provide each year. The Tuckahoe School Foundation awards non-school budgetary grant requests from Tuckahoe teachers for key academic items to enrich the education of the children in the Tuckahoe schools. Some of the grant recipients include the science fair at the Cottle School, listening stations for the ESL program and SMART Slates for the English and Social Studies departments.

 

The Westchester All Stars Christmas Concert for wounded veterans

Tarrytown Music Hall, 13 Main Street, Tarrytown, Friday, Dec. 6, 7:30 p.m.

Actors Tony Darrow and Paul Borghese are back again this year to host an evening of live performances by New York Yankee legend and jazz guitarist Bernie Williams plus many, many more.The evening presents original holiday music by Westchester County’s greatest musicians. The proceeds from the event will benefit two wounded veterans organizations: The Bob Woodruff Foundation and Veterans Adaptive Sports, Inc. Tax-deductible tickets cost $25, $35 and $50.
