Prayer services
Held regularly on the last Saturday of the month. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. following the regular Saturday service, these brief moments for meditation and prayer offer personal prayers at the altar and the ancient tradition of anointing with oil.
New course offering
The new class is The Old Testament–a survey course of the Old Testament, its literature and importance in preparing for the coming of the Messiah and the covenant history between God and his people. This session runs on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. through Dec. 10 and is taught by Rev. Travis Yee. The Westchester All Stars Christmas Concert for wounded veterans
Tarrytown Music Hall, 13 Main Street, Tarrytown, Friday, Dec. 6, 7:30 p.m.
Actors Tony Darrow and Paul Borghese are back again this year to host an evening of live performances by New York Yankee legend and jazz guitarist Bernie Williams plus many, many more.The evening presents original holiday music by Westchester County’s greatest musicians. The proceeds from the event will benefit two wounded veterans organizations: The Bob Woodruff Foundation and Veterans Adaptive Sports, Inc. Tax-deductible tickets cost $25, $35 and $50. Exhibit: Presepio Napoletano
Nativity scenes are very popular in Italy and are generally found in every household during the holiday season. The nativity originated in Italy in the 13th century when St. Francis of Assisi asked Giovanni Vellita from the Village of Greccio to create a manger scene. During the 17th and 18th centuries, the nativity was turned into an art form in Naples and included representation of daily life in Naples at that time. Today, many artisans are dedicated to the craft of creating handmade figures for presepi. Presepio Napoletano represents our rich cultural and spiritual traditions. It portrays a bustling village located at the base of Mount Vesuvius. The landscape is handcrafted in wood, cork and paper mache. The figures are made of terra cotta, hemp and wire, many of which stand more than a foot tall.

Exhibit Hours: Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to noon. Hours subject to change.

Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. Create your unique nativity set to take home to enjoy for the holidays. Listen to Italian Christmas songs, smell the aroma of the freshly baked pizzelle and start your own family tradition to cherish for years to come. A holiday reception will conclude the program. Viva Verdi!: Otello by Giuseppe Verdi
Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. Viewing of 1996 performance at the Metropolitan Opera. Starring Placido Domingo, Renee Fleming, and James Morris. Conducted by James Levine. Giuseppe Verdi, one of the most influential romantic opera composers of the 19th.century, composed a total of 28 operas from 1813 until his death in 1901. “Otello” is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Arrigo Boito, based on Shakespeare’s play “Othello.” It was Verdi’s penultimate opera, and was first performed at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan, on Feb. 5, 1887. A special reception will close this series of events dedicated to commemorate one of Italy’s greatest composers. The program was made possible by the collaboration of the Bronxville Women’s Club. This program will take place at the Westchester Italian Cultural Center, One Generoso Pope Place, Tuckahoe, NY. Must register in advance and prepay.

Peace, art and craftiness holiday boutique
Saturday, Dec. 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The boutique will feature local Westchester artists selling their goods to make the holiday season filled with hand crafted, from the heart, one of kind gifts. Showing a wide arrange of arts and craftiness from clothing, jewelry, knitwear, glass work, photography, cards, fine art and more.
The boutique is taking place in the studio of Lyte Body Fitness. Come on by, check out our new studio that offers personal training and yoga and find a hand-crafted present for that special someone.

The Community Fund accepting 2014 grant applications
The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Inc. is currently accepting 2014 grant applications from qualified applicants. Applications must be received by Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, for consideration.
Social service agencies or groups serving the health, education and welfare needs of residents in the villages of Bronxville and Tuckahoe, the Town of Eastchester and the areas located in the 10708 zip code are invited to apply. Funding is determined based on a number of factors, including community needs, distribution of existing services, impact on the community, population served, quality of administration/service, collaboration and financial condition.
The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester, Tuckahoe, Inc.’s mission is to provide funding and support for local agencies and non-profit groups serving the health, education and welfare needs of residents in the Bronxville 10708, Eastchester and Tuckahoe community.
