Harrison dentist inducted into the International College of Dentists 2013
Dr. Kenneth Magid, D.D.S., was inducted into the International College of Dentists in recognition of his services to the field of dentistry.

The ceremony was held in New Orleans on Nov. 1, 2013. The International College of Dentists is a worldwide honorary dental organization established in 1928 with more than 12,000 members designated as fellows. The ICD is the preeminent honorary organization of the world’s outstanding dentists who have, by their actions, demonstrated an abiding interest and concern for their communities and profession. The qualifications of a candidate are evaluated by as many as 25 fellows during the screening process, and approximately the top 4 percent of dentists worldwide are offered fellowship.

Fellowship in the college is by invitation only and is granted in recognition of an individual dentist’s, “outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service and dedication to the continued progress of dentistry for the benefit of humankind.”

Dr. Kenneth Magid of Advanced Dentistry of Westchester said, “Being inducted into the International College of Dentists is one of the most significant events of a dentist’s career. I am honored to be recognized as a fellow in the Class of 2013.”

Dr. Magid has practiced dentistry in Westchester County for more than 40 years. He is currently the director of pre-doctoral laser dentistry and associate clinical professor at NYU College of Dentistry and is the assistant director of honors esthetics. He has appeared on nationwide television and radio programs to discuss high tech and cosmetic dentistry including, ABC and the New York Times. Dr. Magid lectures throughout the U.S. and Canada and is a contributor to many journals on topics including minimally invasive dentistry, laser dentistry, digital radiography, air-abrasion dentistry, 21st Century dentistry and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Magid received his dental degree from New York University College of Dentistry.

The International College of Dentists is the oldest and largest international honorary dental organization established in 1928 with more than 12,000 members, designated as fellows, around the globe. Fellowship in the college is extended by invitation only and is granted in recognition of a dentist’s “outstanding professional achievement, meritorious service and dedication to the continued progress of dentistry for the benefit of humankind.”

Liebert to receive award for stem cell education
Genetics Policy Institute will bestow its 2013 Education Award on Mary Ann Liebert, president and CEO of the company that bears her name, citing her work in educating patients, researchers and the broader stem cell community, and in raising the standard in medical research journalism.

Liebert is the president and CEO of Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., a media empire known for establishing authoritative peer-reviewed journals in promising areas of science and biomedical research. Its biotechnology trade magazine, Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News, debuted in 1980. It was the first in its field, and is today the industry’s most widely read publication worldwide. Stem Cells and Development is an authoritative, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to developments in the biology, characteristics and therapeutic utility of stem cells.
