BRANSON, Mo. – 9:35 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2015 – High winds contribute to a couple of emergency calls at this hour. Firefighters are responding to a minor natural cover fire in the area of Casey’s Convenience Store on Highway 248 in Branson.

Crews are advised that a natural cover fire in that area has spread due to the high winds. Firefighters are watching the area to make sure the flames don’t threaten the nearby Branson Towers Hotel. At this time, the structure does not appear to be in danger.

Emergency crews are also responding to Rockaway Beach where a couple of incidents are related to high winds. A power line is down and reported “sparking” on Highland Street. Also on Lake Street, there’s a report of a fallen tree that’s knocked over power lines in that area.

Western Taney County Firefighters are on scene.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 10 p.m. for Taney County. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight. Tune in to 106.3 News-Talk KRZK or My 100.1 FM for up-to-the-minute weather coverage.
