I love everything about spring. Well almost, there is the mud to deal with. Which I never fully understood the scope of mud and little boys until this spring. But that is a story for another day. I do still love spring, even with all the mud I have to scrub out of clothes. I love the fresh start, the way we all appreciate the sunshine and warmth, and the new life that appears outside. So when I was challenged to come up with a new spring DIY project by the other bloggers over at Hometalk I jumped right in. I decided to take inspiration from the fresh buds outside and created a project using moss from a local craft store. And the best part – this DIY moss art only requires a pair of scissors and a hot glue gun to complete, no expensive tools! Check out the steps to create your own.

To begin you will need:
the word of your choice printed off on computer paper
piece of chalk
cardboard
ball point pen
scissors
moss in sheet form
hot glue gun
step one | Cover the backside of the paper with a layer of chalk. Lay the paper on top of the cardboard, chalk side down. Trace over the letters with the ball point pen.
step two | Cut the word out of the cardboard.
step three | Cut out a piece of moss that is slightly bigger than the word, leave about a half inch extra on all sides.
step four | Place the word down on the back side of the moss and begin to hot glue the moss to the backside of the letter. Be careful you don’t burn your fingers! Tip: I used the tip of my scissors to hold the moss in place while the glue dried – it seemed to seep through the moss and burn my fingers while it was drying.
step five | Find a beautiful place to display your moss art! It would look lovely leaning up on a bookshelf or picture ledge. I decided to grab an old cupboard door that I had in my “junk room” and hot glued the word to the door, but I understand most normal people don’t just have old cupboard doors lying around.
I do love the way it looks along the chippy off white door! With that you are done. I love this for springtime, but honestly I think it would look fabulous out any time of the year! I think more mossy projects are in my future.
