Project at Opelousas

A few weeks ago, our facilities manager, Jeff Ezell, visited the Opelousas Lighthouse Mission in Louisiana, a transition shelter for homeless men. He was blown away by how this humble ministry could make such a great impact with so few resources. Working for a charity with needs of its own, his heart led him to form a team and voluntarily make a trip to Opelousas to give this deserving ministry a much-needed upgrade.

After collecting donations from the staff of the Home of Grace to help fund the project, Jeff assembled others in his department that specialized in plumbing, carpentry, construction, and electrical. After the three and a half hour trip to Opelousas, Jeff and his team wasted no time in giving the mission a facelift. The project included adding washers and dryers donated by the Home of Grace, building a pavilion, and several other facility upgrades.

Jeff and his men were happy to lend a helping hand. But even happier was Johnny Carriere (an alumnus of the Home of Grace) as well as Mike Fontenot, a director of Opelousas Mission, who wrote the following letter:

Dear Jeff,

When we first spoke about a Home of Grace mission team coming here to upgrade the facility, I had no idea of the enormity of the project you would organize. Please accept our heartfelt thanks for your vision and diligence in leading this project to fruition!

The amount of time, expense, skill, and dedication that went into this project blows me away and I am overwhelmed by the new pavilion, plumbing, and electrical work done by your crew! We cannot put a price on the gift you’ve given us.

Through all of this I saw Christ working to mold this whole thing together; he used a group of men to do His work for the glory of HIS name!

May God richly bless all of you and the Home of Grace as well!

Best regards and blessings,

Michael Fontenot
