Meet our blogger spotlight of the month Rebekah Dempsey! She caught our eye (and made us a tad jealous) with her beautiful party (and home) decorating abilities!

Rebekah, of A Blissful Nest, is a designer extraordinaire – coming from an interior design background she transitioned into styling parties and events after her daughter was born.

Check out her full story below!

Q: How long have you been blogging? What made you decide to get started?

I have been blogging now for about 7 years! Time sure does fly by and my blogging content sure has evolved. I was a senior designer in a residential design firm in LA and a new mom. I started a blog for fun to document all these amazing ideas I was coming across. I wanted to share my love for design and being a mom with others that might have common interests. Never in a million years did I dream it could become what it is today!

Q: What are your favorite posts to create? Why?

I love creating content that inspires my readers to think of their home in a new way and to show them how to add their own personality and taste to their living spaces. I can not tell you how many clients I have that don’t know what they want but after working with me have a very specific look that is perfect for them. Documenting the process of selecting items for your home are my all time favorite posts!

Q: How do you come up with DIY content?

You know the funny thing is is that I don’t look at myself as a DIY blogger. When I post a DIY piece it really is the easiest simplest way to get a specific look or design a piece for my home without breaking the bank. I always say I have champagne taste on a beer budget. My background is high end residential design and I know what I like but sometimes can not afford that $3,000 coffee table I would buy for my clients. I shop places like the Salvation Army and snag very similar pieces and redo them to get a curated look. I think everyone can do this if they know what to search for.

Q: What’s your biggest blogging obstacle? (besides not having enough hours in the day)

Yes time IS always a issue isn’t it?!! I would like to work on a renovation project and document it and at this time we are working out some details so I can make this a part of my blogging. I can be an impatient person so I think that is a huge thing for me to work on! I am just excited to share that part of my knowledge with others that are in the middle of or getting ready to renovate or are in the process.

Q: What’s your biggest blogging accomplishment?

One of my biggest accomplishments so far was being featured on Martha Stewart. That is such a iconic brand and it really made me feel like I had made it. But I am one of those people that thinks “Okay on to the next big thing!” right afterwards. I really like to keep pushing myself in my career and in my design sense.

Q: What are your favorite blogs?

Some of my favorite blogs are The Fashionable Hostess, Studio McGee, The Hunted Interior and Sita Montgomery Interiors. That is just a few though. I have SO many favorites!
