**Senior Director - Electro-Mechanical Engineering (Job Number: 160710)**

**Summary of Duties and Responsibilities**
+ As a member of senior R&D staff you will provide leadership and direction to the hardware (electrical & mechanical) engineering teams. Manage, support and provide direction to functional team and also to cross-functional product/project teams.
+ In your primary role you will plan and manage complex development projects. You will be responsible for the business and R&D success of the hardware engineering team. Provide strong leadership and engineering expertise for successful project delivery for New Product Development, Advanced Product Development efforts and support for Sustaining product development.
+ Develop/support overall concepts for a new product. Think creatively to analyze data or information, carry out ideas, programs, systems, or products.
+ Work effectively in cross functional and cross divisional team environment. Work effectively in a team environment with close interface with PMO, product marketing, service, manufacturing and technical support departments. Provide engineering expertise to other teams as required
+ Provide functional expertise to drive organic growth and support divisional cost reduction objectives to improve profitability
+ Participate in lean engineering efforts to improve engineering efficiencies
+ Ability to organize and manage a team of hardware engineering personnel for the purposes of design, prototyping, testing and transfer to manufacturing of an entire system.
+ Responsible for translating design objectives into an acceptable program of appropriate engineering personnel, schedules and resources
+ Facilitates all of the design and implementation phases of a program consistent with divisional standard and goals.
+ Manage department budget and provide budgeting and tracking information associated with program development to management.
+ Review program status with engineers on a regular basis and provides program status reports. Provide coordinated support for all engineering programs as required.
+ Establishes career planning and objectives for engineering personnel. Reviews subordinate engineering personnel performance levels.
+ Required to effectively communicate pertinent information to engineering staff on a wide variety of subjects including goals and objectives, divisional requirements and the current status of the division.
+ Required to motivate engineering personnel toward achievement of individual, department and divisional goals.
+ Required to effectively represent the department and division interests at professional meetings, with end-users of our equipment, and with contractors servicing our products.
+ Required to make technical presentations at meetings attended by peer groups, sales personnel, other divisional department members, customers, and at professional meetings.
+ Ensures design, fabrication, maintenance and repair methods/processes are developed as well as executed in a manner that supports all quality standards.

**Education**
+ Minimum of a MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical instrumentation, or equivalent experience.
**Experience**
+ Position requires a minimum of ten years’ experience as Hardware Engineering Manager.
+ More than 12 years of experience in medical device research and development
+ Experience with all phases of the product development lifecycle, including concept, design, implementation, debug, verification, qualification, and transfer
+ Experience defining and managing an R&D budget
+ Preferred - Ten plus years of experience in the medical device field with specific knowledge in the areas of x-ray generation, medical imaging, physics, electronics, mammography, and device compliance
**Specialized Knowledge**
+ Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
+ Mathematics: Knowledge of the rules and uses of numbers. Areas of knowledge include arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and statistics.
+ Education and Training: Knowledge of teaching and the methods involved in learning and instruction.
+ English Language: Knowledge of the meaning, spelling, and use of the English language.
+ Clerical: Knowledge of general office work such as filing and recording information.
+ Communications Knowledge of producing, sharing, and delivering information. This may be through written, spoken, or visual media.
