Welcome to the Sunday Surf, a tour of the best blogposts I've read throughout the week.

This is not a boy sitting at home. Mikko decided he wanted to wear his

footie pajamas out. He garnered a lot of envious pointing from other kids.

I just can't believe how tall he's getting. He's been talking about his birthday party

so much, and I can't believe he'll be SIX years old in June! How did that happen? My baby!

We already knew Alrik was a powerhouse, right?

He insisted on wheeling our basket around at the thrift store.

Time to read!

Love this wisdom from Simcha Fisher:

Good parents are the ones who try as hard as they can to do what seems right to them, but still allow themselves to say, “This just isn’t working.  Let’s try something else.”

Good parents are the ones who say, “Wow, this system, plan, or attitude was effective with me, my siblings, and my other six children, and (as far as I can tell from the outside) every other kid in our church, school, and area shopping mall; but for whatever reason, it’s not working with this particular kid.  Let’s try something else.”

What Natural Parenting REALLY Looks Like! — NPN Flickr photo contest

Win some of the almost $1100 in prizes by contributing your photos of "What Natural Parenting Really Looks Like" to the new Natural Parents Network Flickr Pool.

Photos submitted to the NPN Flickr Pool from now through March 31, 2013, will be considered entries into the contest. We're looking for high quality, beautiful, tender, funny, but above all honest digital depictions of natural parenting.

See details at the link, and please share this contest with your parenting friends! We'd love as wide a range of natural parenting photos as possible in our pool and can't wait to see what wonderful photos you submit.

At LaurenWayne.com:

Allow people to message you from Google Plus

If you've connected your Google presence to your Google+ profile, as is now the default, there's no standard way for people outside your circles to contact you. Fortunately, there's an easy fix to make in your settings to allow messages and emails to be sent to you without revealing your email address. To me, this is a commonsense balance between privacy and reachability.
