People grow and develop as years go on, and so does web development. Think about the first time you used a computer and signed onto the internet. Is it the dial up tone that still haunts you, or the fact that you could never talk on the phone and surf the web at the same time? Or was it the very limited websites you could visit. Each year there are new improvements and trends that make the World Wide Web great.
We found these top five themes to look out for within the coming year:
Give your viewers a gif when they visit
Since everything is very visual now a days, it may be smart to add some fun graphics to your site. Rather than boring blocks of text, try and space it out with a little gif. We don’t recommend something that could put someone into epileptic shock, we’re thinking more of a thoughtful and simple idea that describes what your text is about. For example, if you say your company runs on coffee and the pot never empties, then a gif like this would be good:
Flash into the New Year with typography
Break away from the standard Times New Roman and Calibri fonts. Get funky with it! Play around with different shapes, effects, colors, patterns… whatever your little heart desires. Just make your typography stand out and reflect your brand in the best way possible.
Go to the edge with art
Move away from those free stock photos you use and abuse. Try to get something cool and original. Not only will you have something that no one else has, you can really tailor the photos to what you want to see. The use of bright colors like pop art are also big this year. Shock your viewers with images that they haven’t seen before.
Get animated
Static images can be great at times, but things are moving to a more dynamic era. Show your companies personality by creating animations that are integrated into the webpages while your users are scrolling over different tabs, waiting for something to load or when they get a 404 error. Take Google for example. When the page isn’t loading and you’re waiting for your wifi to restart, you can tap the space bar and play a little game. Have fun with your animations and your users will thank you for it.
Grab the popcorn and get ready
Videos are known for grabbing attention. If you’re based out of a cool city, you work in a cool office or maybe a lot of funny things happen around your office, make a short video that loops behind your home page banner graphic. Videos can show your user that you’re innovative and technically savvy. Plus it’s fun to watch!
Get ready for this new year by organizing and changing up your webpage. Check out these 2017 themes and any others that you may see come up. As long as you stay true to your company’s attitude and brand, you’ll be able to make any change work.
