Line dancing at the Wildhorse Saloon
Nashville Tennessee is the home of country music so I wanted to stop by and check out the scene. I decided to go to the super touristy Wild Horse Saloon downtown off Broadway. It’s a cool large music and dining venue. They didn’t charge any cover when I went on a Monday around 5:45 pm. There was some line dancing for 30 minutes then a. Live band came on, Jami Grooms. It was nice to see and get some of the country feel. The food was not particularly good though, I’d say just average so don’t expect much. Parking downtown is a bit of a nightmare, especially since it was a rainy Monday I went. There are free meters after 6pm, but not many. I found the best bet was to park along the waterfront on Gay Street. It’s near the Hard Rock and Wildhorse Saloon and the street is lined with meters and other spaces that are free after 6pm. It’s only about a 5 minute walk to the venue.
Giant guitar in front of Opry
Grand Ole Opry Entrance
The Grand Ole Opry is famous so I also swung by there which was nice to check out. There wasn’t a show that night, but I did take some pictures outside. I thought it was a small venue since it’s the Grand Old Opry House, but it’s a huge music hall. I also bought a ferret beanie baby from the gift shop and a cheesy souvenir, haha. Opry Mills mall is next door and they have tons of stores, so they got some of my spending money too. It’s a large outlet mall on top of a now defunct theme park.
Comfy beds
Small bathroom
Outside sink area
At night I checked into the Springhill Suites Metro Center. It’s only about a 10 ,minute drive from downtown Nashville. The property is renovated but some things like the room walls and light / electrical switches appeared original, aka yellowish. Overall the room was pleasant but I expected it to be nicer based on the tripadvisor reviews, as it’s rated higher than I feel like it should’ve been. Staff was friendly though, and there was a free breakfast which was ok. Oatmeal, cereals, fruit, eggs, breads, and turkey sausage. Turkey sausage was disgusting, I’m never eating that again. Only pork sausages going forward, the real stuff. Overall ok stay, especially if you want a large room.sui
