North Carolina Junior Golf
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour will be in Shelby, NC to host another Hurricane Tour Shop Series stop. On April 5-6 the tournament will occur at the beautiful Deer Brook Golf Club. The course offers a unique challenge set in the beautiful North Carolina countryside.
The Hurricane Tour Shop Series at Deerbrook is open to all junior golfers between the ages of 11-18. This tournament has plenty up for grabs. The champion in each division will win AJGA Performance Stars if their respective field size requirements are met. Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings will be awarded to all divisions as well as South Carolina Junior Golf Association Heritage points and Tarheel Youth Golf Association points. The winners in each division will receive an automatic bid into the HJGT 2014 Tour Championship and Mid-Season Invitational. The top three finishers will also be invited to the Tour Shop Series Invitational. Additionally, the top ten finishers will receive points towards year end honors which include state teams, ALL HJGT teams and the Hurricane Cup.
The event will be a two day, 36-hole, stroke play tournament. The first round will begin on Saturday with a single tee start running from 11AM-2PM. Following first round play will be a special tour shop series after party featuring food, drink, contests, giveaways and prizes. The second round, on Sunday, will also be a single tee start with times ranging from 11AM-2PM. The registration fee is $185 for members and $215 for non-members. The 18-hole Deer Brook Golf Club in Shelby, North Carolina is a public golf course that opened in 1999. Designed by Brian Lussier and Rick Robbins, Deer Brook Golf Club has a slope rating of 133 and a 73.4 USGA rating. The course features many challenges for every different skill level. The greens are bent and the fairways are bermuda. Deer Brook is located in the rolling piedmont of Shelby, North Carolina in the southwestern portion of the state, nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The course is a great escape at uses the natural flow of the land to provide a premier golfing experience.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 11-14 and Girls 15-18. Based out of Jacksonville, FL, the HJGT administers events all across the nation, with stops in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, and Pennsylvania.
