This week, it was reported that One Direction were going to split *gasps loudly* in 2016 and would not be touring their fifth album, due out later this year. After many tears and tantrums – or cries of joy if you’re less of a fan – it was confirmed by band member Niall Horan that they would be taking some time out.

After a whirlwind five years, it seems right that the boys go on a little hiatus for their own sanity. However, it’s unlikely that they will rest on their laurels for too long. Here’s our predictions of what Harry, Niall, Liam and Louis will do with their time off.

Happy birthday @rorymcilroy ! Conngratulations on the matchplay win! Have a great day man!

Niall Horan – Golf Caddie

He’s already an honorary life member of Mullingar Golf Club and best pals with golfer Rory McIlroy so it seems inevitable that Niall won’t stray far from a course during his time away from the band. Having been Rory‘s caddie twice already, we certainly wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes a more common occurrence. Or who knows? Maybe Niall will become a pro himself!

Went training at Rovers today with Stan !! Soooo nice to spend some proper time in Donny !!

Louis Tomlinson  – Footballer/Father

Louis is an avid footballer, and was even asked by his home team Doncaster Rovers to play for them on a non-contract basis in 2013. As well as participating in a few games for Doncaster, he’s worked on various charity events with them and even had plans to co-own the club last year. It’s likely that with no music commitments, we’ll see Louis take to the pitch much more frequently over the next year, although if looming fatherhood is approaching, he’ll have to juggle his time on field with his family life!

Possibly the best sign at a show ever.

Harry Styles – Baker

Prior to the big ol’ X Factor, a young 14-year-old Harry worked part-time in a local bakery in his hometown of Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. Now 21, and with a lot more of another kind of dough in the bank, we reckon it might be time for Hazza to get back to work on those pastries and cakes. Perhaps even a little stint on Masterchef or The Great British Bake-Off is calling his name *crosses fingers*.

Liam Payne – Firefighter/Lifesaver

Liam is no stranger to danger, having come to the rescue of his friends over the years. In August 2013, he used his bare hands to try and save best mate Andy Samuels from a freak fire accident after it set him alight. A couple of months later, while attending Calvin Harris‘s birthday party, he prevented the DJ from being knocked out after a rather bizarre situation arose. Calvin tweeted “Big thank you to @Real_Liam_Payne for saving me from getting KO’d by a flying ‘person of unusually short stature’ tonight”. Liam is a hero. We’ll say no more.

While it may soon be the end of One Direction as we know it, it’s clear to see that individually the boys have numerous other talents and interests that branch far beyond music. Will they enjoy their time apart so much that they ‘forget’ to have a reunion *ahem NSYNC* or are you convinced they’ll be back when they’re ready? Drop us a comment below!
