As you may have seen recently, Abz of the boyband 5ive has decided to sell his Brit Award on eBay. The star has recently traded in the pop star lifestyle to set up a farm in Wales and it appears he’s a bit short of cash at the moment. He got the award back in 2000 for ‘Best Pop Act’ but now it seems he’s just using it as a door stop and really needs some top soil (and maybe a few garden tools) for the farm. I guess if you run a farm, you can never EVER have enough soil. Those cucumbers, onions and potatoes need a home.
You would think an award given to a now almost novelty boyband wouldn’t really fetch much on the eBay market, but from taking a look at the auction page, we grossly misjudged the insanity of the human race.

Yes, you saw that correctly! As of 15:38pm September 9th 2015 the award is going for a staggering £1,100,300. WTF!?
So, with this new found fortune that seems to be on the way (we doubt it’s going to go through to be honest), how much soil can Abz now expect to buy?
Looking on a website called Compost Direct, I checked out the top-soil section to see what was on offer. There seemed to be a few variations, Top Soil Gold, Lawn Dressing, Horticultural Grit but I reckon he’s most likely to go for the Multi-purpose for farm use. Good for everything!

So, for a ‘Bulk Bag’ of approx 900KG it’s gonna cost £79. So now it’s time to do the math.
£1,100,300 / £79 = 13,927.8481 Bags
13,927.84.81 x 900 (KG) = 12,535,063KG
Just to put this in to perspective:
A Blue Whale weighs approx. 181,000 KG. Abz’ soil will weigh the same as 69.25 Blue Whales!!
That’s a whole lot of soil! He could end up being England’s main source of tomatoes and sweet potato before you know it.
He did also mention he needed tools as well. Assuming he spends all the money on just one type of tool we can work out that he could buy…

I don’t know how much use just a bulk amount of one type of tool would be though? Either way, I’d imagine you could have a whole lot of fun with 180,081 Hoes! (garden hoes, obviously!)
