The California Public Utilities Commission has selected General Networks Corporation to provide enhancements to their OpenText Content Server Suite. The enhancements include development of a document library for Oracle-based applications, as well as updates to CPUCs existing Web Publishing and e-Filing integration, which were developed by General Networks. The project is expected to begin in September, 2014.

General Networks has provided CPUC with project implementation, custom development, and support services for OpenText content management platforms and related technologies since 2000, when General Networks designed and developed CPUCs Web Publishing System. The Web Publishing System is used to publish documents on http://www.cpuc.ca.gov, a resource for public as well as government users who need to obtain public documents.

The Web Publishing System, which originally integrated with OpenText eDOCS DM document management system, was updated in 2012, when General Networks completed the enterprise upgrade and migration to OpenText Content Suite.

Other CPUC projects implemented by General Networks include the 2006 deployment of Essential Publishers e-Filing software, which enables the electronic filing of documents in formal proceedings before the Commission. The system eliminates a burdensome paper-based filing procedure and publishes qualified documents into CPUC Web site within minutes after validated receipt. The system integrates with OpenText Content Suite and the CPUC Web Publishing system.

In 2009, CPUC launched the Formal Proceedings Subscription Service, a platform designed and developed by General Networks that provides users of the CPCU public Internet site with the ability to automatically receive updated information pertaining to cases and proceedings that are before the Commission. The Subscription Service enables users of the CPUC Web site to subscribe to a proceeding and receive an email notification whenever a document related to that proceeding is changed or added. Users who receive email subscription notifications click a link to open the latest version of a filed document.
