New York, NY (PRWEB) May 09, 2013

Ernst & Young LLP announced today that it plans to recruit 6,300 students from US campuses in fiscal year 2014, marking a 5% increase from its 2013 fiscal year ending June 30.

Adding to this momentum, two leading organizations recently recognized Ernst & Young LLP for its efforts to create a best-in-class candidate experience for campus, experienced and executive professionals. Yesterday evening it was announced that college students ranked Ernst & Young LLP No. 1 in accounting for the sixth consecutive year and No. 4 in business on the US Undergraduate Universum IDEAL Employer Survey, leading the Big Four professional services firms in the US in both of these categories. More than 65,000 students at nearly 315 leading universities participated in the 2013 Universum IDEAL Employer Survey responding to questions about their career expectations and how they perceive companies as employers.

Additionally, at the April 2013 ERE Recruiting Excellence Awards the preeminent awards for the corporate recruiting industry Ernst & Young LLP won top honors in three of the nine categories, including Best Employer Brand, Best College Recruiting Program and Best Employee Referral Program, with the latter relating to its experienced recruiting efforts. The firm was the only organization to win multiple ERE awards among a field of awards finalists that represented a broad array of companies and industries. The culmination of the efforts that drove these wins for Ernst & Young LLP was a survey conducted by a third-party consultancy, which found that 9.7 out of 10 students felt they were treated with respect by the firm during the recruiting process. The firm was also praised for delivering mobile ads to students on smart phones at select schools and conferences, and for its Ernst & Young Careers page on Facebook, which surpassed 100,000 likes this past fall.

Firm launches new and enhances signature campus recruiting initiatives

To maintain its leadership on campus, Ernst & Young LLP is developing and attracting future leaders through the following efforts, among others.

Ernst & Young and You (EYU) on Campus Ernst & Young develops its people through its world-class framework known as EYU, which delivers the personalized learning, coaching and experiences they need to reach their career goals. This fiscal year, 4,500 college students from approximately 200 schools benefitted from this framework through EYU on Campus programs across the country. EYU on Campus helps develop students through signature events such as the Emerging Leaders Summit, the International Intern Leadership Conference and Discover Ernst & Young; multi-generational forums; global mindset workshops; resume workshops; dress for success events; mock interviews; and one-on-one coaching from recruiters and client-serving professionals. In addition to helping students grow, EYU exposes them to the culture of talent development that Ernst & Young fosters for its full-time professionals.

Global mindset interview competencies Ernst & Young firms will place increased emphasis on hiring candidates with a global mindset in their fiscal year 2014 recruiting seasons, with over half of their interviewing topics including questions about a candidates ability to demonstrate proficiency in this area. In fiscal year 2013, Ernst & Young firms piloted this enhancement to their behavioral interview processes with 600 students on select campuses in the Americas and around the globe. As a result of their success, Ernst & Young firms will continue interviewing for these new competencies in all behavioral interviews for campus and experienced hires in the upcoming fiscal year.

Global Student Experience Program Launched in 2011, this Ernst & Young LLP internship program offers overseas assignments for high-performing summer interns. Participants start their internship in the US and spend four weeks abroad at another Ernst & Young member firm location within the organizations global network, before returning to the US to complete their experience. Participants include both US students going abroad and non-US students coming into the US.

In 2012, the program included more than 50 participants and 11 host countries (Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, UK and the US). For 2013, the program will grow to almost 60 participants and 12 host countries, including new hosts Israel (Tel Aviv) and Australia (Perth). In addition, the China member firm, which was previously only an inbound host, will be sending outbound participants for the first time this year.

Emerging Leaders Summit (ELS) This two-and-a-half day summit will be held June 19-21, 2013, in Baltimore, convening 250 students from throughout the Americas for presentations and breakout sessions on a variety of topics and interactive case studies. The conference is hosted for students in their sophomore to senior years who have demonstrated leadership potential both academically and personally. Beth Brooke, Global Vice Chair – Public Policy for the global Ernst & Young organization, is scheduled to speak at this years event, in addition to other senior leaders and high-profile Ernst & Young alumni, including Michael Goldstein, former Chairman, Toys “R” Us, Inc. and David Bergman, VP and Corporate Controller, Under Armour.

International Intern Leadership Conference Ernst & Young LLP will host its signature International Intern Leadership Conference for the 17th consecutive year July 31Aug. 3, 2013, in Orlando. This year the firm expects 2,300 interns to participate from 25 different countries. Interns participate in classroom learning and team building experiential learning activities.

New Horizons Program The New Horizons Program is a three-month international exchange opportunity for professionals early in their careers. Its goal is to empower junior professionals to experience geographic mobility early in their careers. The Americas program links people so that they can team internationally on high-profile clients.

The initiative is making an enormous impact, as the number of participants has more than doubled since the program’s inception in 2011. Starting this summer, 54 participants are relocating to Ernst & Young firms in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Israel, Mexico, Paraguay or the US.
