Ballyhoo Commerce is a lightweight e-commerce system designed to help small businesses make the most of selling online with minimal training and technical knowledge. The e-commerce system, dubbed Ballyhoo Commerce due to its mission to effortlessly promote products, was conceived in 2005 by Anthony Chaffey, now owner of Birmingham web design agency Ballyhoo Ltd.

Exclusive to Ballyhoo Ltd, and primarily developed as an alternative to feature-heavy e-commerce systems that many small vendors struggle to manage and make sense of, Ballyhoo Commerce has become a robust e-commerce system with its sights set on becoming one of the most useful tools in the world of e-commerce web development.

Ballyhoo Commerce Version 1.9.19 builds on improvements in previous versions and also introduces a number of new features that vendors can successfully employ to further promote and manage their products.

A major new feature of the system is the ability to allow users to save their shopping baskets for later. With many online shoppers looking for the best possible price (as well as many of Ballyhoo’s clients selling B2B with their customers looking to price up orders for approval), the ability to save orders is designed to be a time-saver for shoppers and help prevent abandoned orders. Customers must register to be able to save their order which is saved at current pricing for 30 days.

With the introduction of saved orders, the order statuses of the e-commerce system have also been reworked to give vendors more data. Orders are now tracked from the moment an item is added to the basket (enabling the vendor to get a better idea of how many baskets are being abandoned) and the order status applied is more descriptive to help vendors make better sense of their Order Manager.

For vendors with competitively priced products, price comparison can play a huge role in the success of their online venture. An integration with leading shopping comparison site PriceRunner has now been developed to complement existing integrations with other price comparison engines including Google Products and Shopzilla, further expanding the channels through which the vendor’s products can be discovered.

As with any new release of Ballyhoo Commerce, a number of bug fixes and minor improvements have also been made to the system to improve reliability, security and the user experience.
