The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) was a community partner for the TechFair LA in Downtown Los Angeles! TechFair LA is the largest tech job fair in Los Angeles, joining professionals across all spectrums in the tech field.
It is to no surprise that Los Angeles has experienced enormous growth in technology the last few years alone, and that growth will only continue to increase.
“TechFair LA promises to be the tech community event of the year. A place where people in this world changing industry will come to talk about new trends, to discuss new ideas, and to network with the leaders who are making it all happen,” said Mayor Eric Garcetti.
LA Tech Companies that were in attendance included Uber, Amazon, Ticketmaster, LegalZoom, YouTube, Sabio, and many others. TechFair LA was an opportunity for job seekers to network, attend workshops, and learn why LA is one of the world’s leading cities in tech.
“TechFair LA, definitely a great event to attend! Youtube, Snapchat, Uber, Mitu, all of these great platforms were there. Seeing all of the start-ups present reminded me that anything is possible,” said Francia Maciel, CSL Coordinator at HHF.
“TechFair LA is an amazing platform to highlight the growing technology ecosystem in Los Angeles. We are looking forward to working with companies here today to build a stronger diverse community of innovators to move forward with greater unity, purpose and vision,” said Daisy Madrigal, CSL Coordinator at HHF.
HHF values technology with the Code as a Second Language (CSL) initiative in cities across the United States by preparing youth for careers as Latino software engineers, and making technical training and careers accessible to Latinos, women, and underrepresented minorities.
Youth and other professionals connected to our LOFT program are then given access to year-long LOFT Innovation Workforce Development programs including STEM Symposia, Innovation Fellowships, Youth Awards, and other work-based learning opportunities.
HHF’S award-winning LOFT SOURCE program has worked with companies like ExxonMobil, Google, Time Warner, PwC, and BBVA Compass.
CSL provides a meaningful computer science education for Latino youth and is a part of The Foundation’s efforts to train and prepare Latino youth to fill the gaps in America’s workforce.
HHF will continue to make efforts in providing Latinos and underrepresented minorities with the resources and network needed to become successful!
