This season we see the reworking of classic fabrics to uncover a fresh take on modern tailoring. The collections were awash with pinstripes, trench coats and strong 80s shoulder lines, while the ubiquitous blue- striped shirt was reworked in almost every way possible.

Paying homage to the eighties, this spring summer season we see the amped up version of a definitive era. Jewel tones, high octane metallics and bold shapes were seen at Saint Laurent, Kenzo and Isabel Marant. This trend is all the silhouette, with the shoulders being a huge focal point.

LAW AND ORDER
Taking a style cue from the uniforms of US correctional facilities, this look sees the utility trend take a cleaner, neater direction for next season. Key pieces include boxy shirts, crisply presses slacks and patch-pocket jackets. We see these strict but simple utility details updating those minimal street style looks that have dominated in recent seasons.

A NEW MASCULINITY
