Trinidad James in front of a New York audience goes on a rant about how the South now runs New York. Yes the Southern rap runs the airwaves in NY the same way it does in Cali, their sound is what's working on radio right now.

Doesn't mean you can go to New York and just disrespect us like that.

Trinidad James Said:

"You can’t tell me, or anybody here that’s a real f*cking hip-hop fan, that Kendrick Lamar was supposed to go platinum just this year. He’s been that f*cking good! But now, the n*gga that we been knew [was good] is coming and saying shit like he the king of New York. What is that? I remember when New York ran this sh*t, dog. When Dipset was f*cking turned the f*ck up! We were in Atlanta like, “Oh my God, I have to wear my bandana on tilt like Juelz.” What the f*ck happened, dog? Us in the South, us ‘bammas, we just did our own thing. But now we run y’all, musically. That’s crazy!"

"I’m not trying to start nothing, but if you want to do something we can do something because I don’t give a f*ck. I’m just being honest with you. I looked up to New York music. But now every n*gga that’s really popping out of New York, you might as well say he’s from Atlanta. He’s from Atlanta. Y’all got n*ggas that interview that are more popping than n*ggas that are rapping."

Then on Twitter:

"I said a lot tonight in NY and people are prolly gonna take the negative and run with it but my main purpose in life only is to take care of my mama and keep my shoe game on “30 million” . Other than that if I can inspire a young person to be the best person they wanna be along the way….then cool. Nothing else matters. #CrazyDeacon #BlackBatman"

You new southern cats done lost your damn minds coming out your face like that in someone else's city.

Now mind you New York is the mecca of Hip Hop, shoot it's the mecca of damn near the world. When we had the crown, we never went to other coasts and disrespected their region. That's just stupid, what James did is not like Kendrick Lamar on Control with the King Of New York line which was actually a quote from Kurupt in the 90's when they were kicking down New York buildings which was much worse.

Nah this was outright disrespect.

But even with all that, you didn't see artists performing in other people's cities and dissing them, especially someone like Trinidad who is a shitty rapper and isn't dope either, because you can be a non lyrical rapper and still be dope like a Waka Flocka, Gucci Mane etc but Trinidad is neither.

It is a little hypocritical for me to defend New York as I sit here in my ATL home but I'm a NY dude through & through, me being in the South actually gives me a better perspective, plus I travel so much that it feels like I don't belong to any region or country in particular. With the exception of Jamaica since I'm Jamaican after all (had to plug that).

New York Been Soft

Even though I love NY, I'm not going to sit here and pretend like NY hasn't been f*cking up. Dating back to about 2005 the NYC rap scene started a full on decline, 50 Cent was cooling off, Jay-Z was still retired and there were no new artist worthy to carry the mantle, yeah there were quite a few false starts but no one to take New Work forward.

Around the same time Ludacris had already reached legendary status, T.I. explosion into mainstream was in full swing, Young Jeezy was on the rise, DJ Drama had the airwaves and was already controlling the mixtape game and a slew of other ATL artists exploded onto the scene. Not to mention other southern states were generating good artists as well, this was also around the same time the transformation of Lil Wayne began.

All of this while not much was happening in New York.

So I get it, we f*cked up. We slacked off and woke up to a Hip Hop scene we no longer recognize.

Add insult to injury our new NY spitters sound exactly like southern artists, we've lost our old sound and our new sound isn't our own.

I feel this is where an artist like Trinidad James feels he has the right to say something like that.

Maino Feels He Should Be Punched in The Mouth

We all know that Maino has been known to put the hands of god on these rappers and even fans too, it's quite the list. Maino might be looking to add Trinidad to that list due to is Anti New York rant.

Check out the audio.

So what are your thoughts on the occurrences of NY being dissed by rappers?
