Western disturbances to bring snow or rain in Himachal Pradesh in next 24 hours: Met Dept

Mercury was in minus in the tribal areas and below normal in rest of Himachal on Sunday .

The Himachal office of the Indian Meteorological department, forecasts snowfall in high reaches and rain in few places in next 24 hours in Himachal. The office said this sudden climatic change is due to the western disturbances,which are active in the north – western Indian region , and this change is sliding the mercury down in the entire Himachal .

The Met official said here on Monday, “few places in the high reaches of Himachal may get snowfall and rest the rainfall. Rainfall would also occur at few places in the middle hills and isolated parts of the plains.”

Attributing incoming inclement weather to western disturbances laying along longitude 55 degrees east, north of latitude 30 degrees north to western India, rain or snowfall may also occur in next three days, said the office.

Mercury was in minus in the tribal areas of this hill state and below normal in rest of the state. Keylong, headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti was recorded coldest with minus 2.8 degrees Celsius, which was 3.8 degrees down from normal followed by Kalpa in Kinnaur at 1 degrees Celsius.

Tourists resort Manali was cold at 2 degrees today, Bhuntar in Kullu district and Solan 5 degrees each, Hamirpur and Sundernagar in Mandi district 6 degrees each, Shimla, Dalhousie, Chamba and Palampur in Kangra district 7 degrees each, Una, Kangra, Bilaspur and Nahan in Sirmaur district 9 degrees each and Dharamshala 15 degrees respectively.

The weather was mainly dry in last 24 hours as state witnessed cloudy cold day ,the Monday.
