Supervisor Solis cuts ceremonial ribbon at her newest field office
POMONA – Today, Supervisor Hilda L. Solis celebrated the grand opening of her newest field office location in Pomona. The East San Gabriel Valley office was added to ensure close, convenient service for the easternmost constituents in Los Angeles County.
“I have been looking forward to this day since I was sworn in as Los Angeles County Supervisor in December of 2014,” said Supervisor Solis. “This new office will continue the work we have been doing for the families within the First District from providing health services and homelessness advocacy to strengthening employment and economic development opportunities.”
State Senator Connie Leyva, Los Angeles County Chief Executive Officer Sachi Hamai, and Pomona Mayor Elliott Rothman helped kick off the event. Directors from LA County Departments of Fire, Sheriffs, Parks & Recreation, Community & Senior Services, Child Protective Services, Business & Consumer Affairs, Mental Health, and Children & Family Services, also joined in the celebration. In addition, Supervisor Solis presented certificates to several Pomona High School students who are dedicating their free time to registering people to vote.
During her opening remarks, Supervisor Solis reflected all that has been accomplished in LA County and for the First District during her eighteen months in office.
Among the accomplishments noted were:
Completion of the Foothill Gold Line Extension to Azusa, a project that Solis started working on back when she was serving in the U.S. Congress;
Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, a Level 2 Trauma Center, on schedule to open later this year;
Arts programs and resources for the San Gabriel Valley, including an event that brought the LA Philharmonic to Pomona; and
Increased support and resources for homeless veterans, families, and transitional age youth.
“We are making great strides to better serve this region,” noted Solis. “As I continue serving as Chair of the Board of Supervisors this year, I look forward to exploring opportunities to further improve and enhance the East San Gabriel Valley.”
Several County departments, including participated in the family-friendly event. The grand opening celebration included food, entertainment, and informational booths hosted by over 50 exhibitors.
The East San Gabriel Valley Field Office, located at 2245 N. Garey Avenue, Pomona, will service unincorporated communities of Claremont, Covina and Azusa and the cities of Azusa, Claremont, Pomona, Walnut, and West Covina.

Supervisora Solís Presenta Oficina en el Este del Valle San Gabriel
POMONA- Hoy la Supervisora Solís celebro la gran apertura de su nueva oficina localizada en Pomona. La oficina al Este del Valle San Gabriel fue añadida para asegurar servicios cerca y convenientes para los constituyentes al este del Condado de Los Ángeles.
“He estado esperando este día desde que fue investida como Supervisora del Condado de Los Ángeles en diciembre de 2014”, dijo la Supervisora Solís. “Esta nueva oficina continuará el trabajo que hemos estado haciendo para las familias dentro del Primer Distrito desde proveyendo servicios de salud y peleando por aquellos sin vivienda hasta fortaleciendo empleos y las oportunidades de desarrollo económico.”
La Senadora Estatal Connie Leyva, la Jefa Ejecutiva del Condado de Los Ángeles y Alcalde de Pomona Elliott Rothman ayudaron a dar inicio al evento. Directores de departamentos del Condado de Los Ángeles incluyeron, Director de Parques y Recreación John Wicker, Directora de Servicios a la Comunidad y Personas de Mayor Edad Cynthia Banks, Servicios de Protección para Niños Steven Golightly, y Director de Servicios de Niños y Familia Philip Browning también participaron en la celebración. También, Supervisora Solís presentó certificados a varios estudiantes de la Secundaria Pomona High que dedicaron su tiempo libre para registrar a las personas a votar.
Durante su discurso de apertura, la Supervisora Solís reflejo todo lo que se ha logrado en el condado de Los Ángeles y para el Primer Distrito durante sus dieciocho meses en el cargo.
Entre los logros notables fueron:
La terminación de la extensión de la línea Foothill Gold line hacia Azusa, un proyecto que Solís comenzó a trabajar cuando ella estaba sirviendo en el Congreso de EE.UU.;
Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, un centro de trauma de nivel 2, que abrirá a finales de este año;
Los programas y recursos de artes para el Valle de San Gabriel, incluido un evento que llevó a la Filarmónica de Los Ángeles a Pomona; y
Mayor apoyo y recursos para los veteranos sin hogar, familias y jóvenes en edad de transición.
“Estamos haciendo grandes esfuerzos para mejor server a esta región”, señaló Solís. “A medida que continúo sirviendo como Presidenta de la Junta de Supervisores este año, espero explorar las oportunidades para mejorar aún más y mejorar el Este del Valle San Gabriel.”
Varios departamentos del condado, participaron en el evento familiar. La ceremonia de inauguración incluyó comida, entretenimiento, y puestos de información patrocinados por más de 50 expositores.
La Oficina del Este del Valle de San Gabriel, ubicada en 2245 N. Garey Avenue, Pomona, dará servicio a las comunidades no incorporadas de Claremont, Covina y Azusa y las ciudades de Azusa, Claremont, Pomona, Walnut, y West Covina.
