What better way to celebrate your birthday than by posing for a magazine cover shoot?
That’s exactly what Queen Elizabeth II did for the Summer 2016 issue of Vanity Fair. To celebrate her 90th birthday, the queen posed alongside four of her darling corgis and dorgis (a daschund-corgi mix she invented).
But she’s far from being the first royal to cover a major glossy. Between Princess Diana, the Duchess of Cambridge, Queen Rania of Jordan and even Prince William, click through the gallery to see some of our favourite royal cover stars.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Vogue U.K. (June 2016)
It’s been a little over a month since it was announced that the Duchess of Cambridge would cover Vogue U.K.’s June issue – and the photos still have people buzzing! On the cover, Princess Kate shows off her laid-back style in a suede jacket, crisp white button up and a green hat. The shoot, by Josh Olins, is the first magazine shoot the Duchess has ever consented to. (Photo: Josh Olins/Vogue U.K.)
