Before the spring wildflowers come into bloom in the Texas Hill Country, we like to wrap up the final weeks of ‘winter’ enjoying last-minute outdoor excursions to compliment our many monthly local events. Connect with nature, bond with your canine companion, head to Marble Falls Market Days and Festival, or cast a reel and test your angling skills at Highland Lakes bass fishing.

Don’t Miss the Final Vanishing River Bald Eagle Cruise Feb. 28th

While winter’s on the way out, there’s still a chance to capture a glimpse of this season’s American Bald Eagle nests. One of the most convenient and leisurely ways to see these beauties is via a cruise along on the banks of the scenic Colorado River and Lake Buchanan. By far, the most popular Highland Lakes Boat Tour is the Vanishing Texas River Cruise, where people board in hopes of spotting rare birds including eagles, painted Buntings, scissor-tailed Flycatchers, and countless other native and migratory species. The last officially scheduled outing this year is February 28th, so book your seat now.

Come out and help pooches and pet owners support one of the areas most reputable pet-loving non-profits, the Highland Lakes SPCA. Pet Fest in Johnson Park returns on March 7th, and the annual Walk-a-Dog-a-Thon and Coed Softball Tournament is expected to be just as exciting as last year’s gathering! Canines may bring their human companions along for a trek between Marble Falls and Johnson Parks on Saturday March 7th. Live music, doggie competitions, vendors, and tempting local eats complete the afternoon’s festivities and proceeds all benefit a great cause! Offering loving care for so many displaced pets and their commitment to placing every animal keeps this agency in constant need of support.

Head to First of the Month Market Days March 7th

This once a month tradition in downtown Marble Falls welcomes dozens of artisans from counties across the Lone Star State. In addition to the fantastic shopping and Highland Lakes dining venues participating in Market Days, vendors bring along their finest hand-crafted jewelry, artworks, clothing, and more. Stop in and make some great deals on unique and one-of-a-kind goodies every first Saturday of the month!
