High Fives to the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic!

The Reno Orthopaedic Clinic and Reno Aces created the “ROC Star” program to recognize and acknowledge exceptional people within our community. Nominees stand out in one or more of the following: special qualities or skills, excels in sportsmanship, or have persevered through some type of difficulty. Eleven nominees will be selected throughout the 2014 season. The selected “ROC Star” will have the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at one of the Aces games, will receive six tickets to that game for family and friends, his or her name and story will be announced at the game as the “ROC Star” and his or her photo and story will be posted on the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic Website and Facebook page.

On Saturday, July 19th, the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic honored Adam Baillargeon as a ROC Star to throw out the first pitch at a Reno Aces game!

ROC Star Adam Baillargeon – Adam was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at age 17. He became a recipient of the “Make a Wish” foundation in 2002, when his wish was granted to ski at Squaw with professional skier Shane McConkey. His wish became the impetus for a special friendship with his hero, beating cancer, and a building block to Adam’s career of giving back to the community. In 2009 Adam was devastated to learn of the tragic death of his hero, Shane McConkey. Channeling his energy into something positive, Adam pushed forward with his passion for skiing and winter action sports. He is currently a manager at the High Fives Foundation, which is based in Truckee, California. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to raising money and awareness for athletes that have suffered a life-altering injury while pursuing a dream in the winter action sports community. Adam was nominated for selflessly giving his time, overcoming seemingly impossible goals, and for his consistently positive attitude. We think he is truly a “ROC Star”, Adam you ROC!
