Enjoy Michelin dining for under £30 at Brasserie Chavot in Mayfair

For decades Michelin restaurants have represented the pinnacle in fine dining, superior service and exquisite cuisine. Breaking boundaries and producing showstopping dishes in incredible surroundings is all part of the Michelin experience.

And until now, the price of these exceptional establishments has, for most of us, ensured they are resolutely a special occasion venue.

But if you know where to look you can uncover some great-value menus even at London’s best restaurants.

The best Michelin set menus

Brasserie Chavot

Brasserie Chavot serves flavoursome and authentic French classics

This summer one-star French delight Brasserie Chavot launched their new set-menu. Priced at £28.50 it rivals many lesser venues for value and with your dishes crafted by the excellent team, headed up by the endlessly charismatic Eric Chavot, you’ll be kicking yourself you hadn’t found it earlier.

The set menu is served at lunch and from 6-7pm everyday (a great pre-theatre option) and will change every two weeks.

The smoldering French brasserie, located in Mayfair at The Westbury Hotel, delivers deliciously rich and authentic dishes including duck confit (crackingly crisp) and delicate sea cream – both currently on the changing set menu.

For those moving off piste, it’s hard to ignore the fantastic meat. This is, after all, a French restaurant run by a passionate French man so it’s little surprise the ribeye with bernaise and the huge cote de porc were triumphs.

The oozing cheese trolley completed the French fanfare.

The dining room feels special, with burgundy banquettes, a tiled mosiac floor and mirrors running the length of the room. And the staff are, well, Michelin refined.

We sat, drinking a smooth red (bottles start at £22) enjoying the classic yet laid-back vibe and view into the front kitchen.

Eric Chavot has worked under Pierre Koffmann, Raymond Blanc and Marco Pierre White – to name a few before winning two Michelin stars for his intricate, nouveau-French offerings at Knightsbridge’s The Capital.
