Howling Wolf meets Mercy Baby. Elmore James dukes it out with Little Walter. Jimmy Rogers and Robert Nighthawk. Sonny Boy Williamson meets .. well .. one of the other Sonny Boys. The Bo Weavil Blues Band may well come from France (not usually known as a hot bed for Mississippi delta blues) but when you hear them, you're transported to the south with poverty, segregation, Jim Crow and fish house functions. Days spent in toil over cotton, nights tapping the rotting floorboards in some moonshine soaked flop house.

The spirits of the above blues legends seep through this blues band, with a large dollop of John Lee Hooker at his Von Battle best. And like all the great blues men, all the songs are original compositions, albiet a variance on a well-worn theme. If you're a fan of these guys above and like your music down & dirty, this is the record that'll be permanently glued to your turntable. It's Downhome blues bop at its best.
