Unlike your first wedding, just about anything goes when it comes to your bridal gown the second time around — there are far fewer rules to be broken than with a first marriage. Case in point: Katie Couric’s beautiful white wedding dress, which she AND her second husband picked out just one week before their nuptials.

Before Queen Victoria established the trend of wearing a white gown (to symbolize purity) down the aisle, most brides wore their best dress in whatever color and style they fancied. So while you can wear a white dress again, why not try something different this time, maybe a dress in your favorite color, like this ball-gown sweetheart chapel train taffeta wedding dress with ruffle beading in purple or blushing pink?

And if you want to be practical, why not choose a cocktail or tea-length dress that you can wear again and again after your big day?
