August is an exciting time for us at The Herb Chambers Companies. We have a lot going on this month and want to share our happenings with all of you. As some of you may remember from past newsletters, in March we announced our exciting partnership with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund as the “Official Automotive Family.” This partnership has allowed not just our employees, but also our amazing clients to join in on the fight to conquer cancer. The month of August is Jimmy Fund Month, and this marks a special milestone in our partnership. We will be launching a new billboard campaign that will introduce you to our Patient Hero, Ali. We will also have lots of ways for you, to help “Strike Out Cancer.”
If you’re living the in Boston area, it’s likely that you’ve come across one or two of our billboards over the years. I frequently get stopped by people who tell me how much they love our billboards and how they enjoy the humor we try to incorporate into our message. Beginning in August, we’ll have five billboards that I truly hope will catch your attention. These boards will be unique because their message is to help bring further awareness to the lifesaving work that is being done at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Now that you’ve seen our billboards, I want to introduce you all to a very special little girl named Ali, our “Patient Hero”. She is a fun and spirited four year old who was diagnosed with a type of Germ Cell cancer in September 2014. Ali’s parents, Dan and Amanda, and her brother, Sam, have been with her every step of the way since her diagnosis and have worked with the award-winning doctors at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to customize her personalized treatment plan. Today, Ali is moving towards her cure and we’re proud to say that is because of the wonderful team at Dana-Farber. We are so fortunate to be teamed up with a hero as brave as Ali!
Since meeting this terrific family, we are even more #DrivenToCare in finding additional ways to help adults and children, like Ali, who are fighting cancer. One way we can do this is by furthering our commitment to the amazing work being done at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through financial support. We will be hosting a matching donation campaign during the entire month of August. We kick-off our matching campaign on August 1st and are committed to matching every one of your donations up to $175,000! These donations will include those made by our clients, employees and friends throughout the month. Donations will be accepted by check at any Herb Chambers dealership or by visiting www.herbchambers.com and clicking on the Jimmy Fund link, which will bring you to our official “Giving Page”. Every dollar raised will assist in supporting cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and help patients like Ali.
Additionally, on Tuesday, August 18 and Wednesday, August 19, WEEI/NESN will host the 14th annual Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon in support of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The Herb Chambers Companies will be teaming up with New England Sports Network (NESN) to help “Strike Out Cancer.” Over the span of 36 hours and two Boston Red Sox games, this broadcast will feature compelling stories from Dana-Farber patients, doctors, researchers and nurses, celebrity guests and athletes, in hopes of inspiring people from all over the world to contribute to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's lifesaving mission. On August 19th, Ali and her mom Amanda will join me at Fenway Park to speak about the Jimmy Fund and the amazing work they do. Again, every dollar makes a difference, so I ask that you join myself, Ali, her family, and my team this August and be #DrivenToCare.
The month of August marks another special milestone for The Herb Chambers Companies. We will open the doors to our newest dealership location, Herb Chambers Lexus of Hingham, located directly across from the Derby Street Shoppes. This dealership has been temporarily operating in Norwell. We are thrilled about this location and can’t wait to have you join us for a cup of coffee, a snack, and a test drive!
