During one of my most recent visits to Ulta I spotted a brand new display of Makeup Revolution London cosmetics. What grabbed my attention was a wide variety of products, from foundations, blushes, contouring kits, eyeshadow palettes to lip products and glosses. Everything at extremely affordable prices!

As an eyeshadow palette addict I decided to bring one home with me. After a long consideration, I purchased a 32 pan Ultra Eyeshadow palette called Affirmation. The palette was $15 but with my $3.50 off coupon, I spent only $12.50. Sounds like a deal for that many eyeshadows, right?

Was it a good deal indeed or is the palette a case of “you get what you pay for?” Keep reading to find out!

Before I share my thoughts on the palette itself, a few words about the Makeup Revolution London Brand. It’s a London based company that launched in 2014. Their mission is to offer professional quality makeup products, with shades for every skin tone that are cruelty free and affordable. You can check out their Makeup Revolution London (they offer international shipping), but for an easier access go to Ulta or Ulta.com!

Back to the palette. The Affirmation Palette that I picked is a selection of 32 eyeshadows, beige highlighting shades, nudes, rose toned pinks, cool purples and smokey greys. Basically, all you need to create a simple daytime look and a hot smokey eye for the night. And yes, it does remind me of Urban Decay Naked palettes.

The eyeshadows are housed in a black glossy compact with gold letters on the front and a big mirror on the inside.

In the palette there are 12 matte eyeshadows and the remaining 24 have a shimmery finish. The matte eyeshadows have a buttery  texture that reminds me of Lorac matte eyeshadows. They are less pigmented than the shimmery shades and you do need to reapply the color a few times to achieve good pigmentation. However, they do not create any fallout, which is always a plus!

The shimmery shades are my favorite. The pigmentation is mostly really good and 2 or 3 swipes are enough to achieve full opacity. They feel soft and again, create no fallout.

In terms of longevity, I didn’t have high hopes. I have to admit I love higher end eyeshadows because of how long they last and because I don’t need to reapply them throughout the day. With the Makeup Revolution London palette, I wore all the eyeshadows using an eye primer like I always do, and I am happy to report that they last pretty damn long. They do not crease and I noticed only slight fading after about 6 hours of wear. Not bad for the price!

Below, you can see the swatches of all the shades, swatched in fours from left to right, top to bottom.

All in all, I bought the Affirmation palette because of curiosity and because I was attracted to all the pretty shades. For the price of $15 for 32 eyeshadows I did not expect high quality but I was pleasantly surprised. All the eyeshadows are easy to work with, offer decent pigmentation and last a long time before fading a bit. The shades are not the most unique in terms of color and if you already have a lot of eyeshadow palettes you can probably find a lot of dupes. However, it’s nice to have all the shades in one place and with so many colors to play with, the sky is the limit in terms of various shade combinations. If you don’t have a lot of eyeshadows, I’d highly recommend getting it. It would make a good travel palette too!

Lastly, I will leave you with a smokey eye look I created using this palette.   I highlighted my under brow area with shade #1. Next, I put shade #2 in the crease of my eye and #3 to deepen the crease, blending the two together really well.   With dark plum shade #4 I intensified the crease yet again, applying the same shade to my lower eyelid. Finally I used shade #6 all over the movable part of my eyelid.

What do you think of the Makeup Revolution London Affirmation palette? Have you tried any products from this brand yet? If so, please share your recommendations because I am ready to go back to Ulta to pick up a few more products! I think I am going to check out the Ultra Cream Contouring Palette next!
