Neutral eyeshadow palettes never get boring to me. No matter how many of them I have (and trust me, I have a lot!), every new neutral shadow palette release excites me! And it was no different with Lorac’s latest Unzipped Gold palette.

A sequel to a previously released Lorac Unzipped Palette, Unzipped Gold is a warm toned, universally flattering palette consisting of 10 eyeshadows:  3 mattes and 7 shimmery, metallic shades. They are housed in a sturdy carboard box with a pretty pearl yellow gold finish. The palette also comes with a deluxe sample of Behind The Scenes eyeshadow primer.

The majority of the shades deliver the excellent quality and pigmentation that I am used to in Lorac’s palettes. The shimmery shades are buttery, very smooth and although they appear a bit powdery in the pan, they apply like a dream. No fallout, excellent pigmentation in just one swipe. It’s the matte shades that proved a bit disappointing to me.

Below you can read a detailed description of each shade:

Swatches Top Row, from L to R:Undressed, Uninhibited, Unpredictable, Undeniable, Unedited.

Undressed- is a matte beige with a pink undertone; it applies really smooth, it’s a great color for highlighting the under brow area and the corners of your eyes.

Unihibited- is a shimmery golden beige.

Unpredictable- a beautiful shimmery peach gold, one of my favorite shades in the palette.

Undeniable- a matte milk chocolate brown; when swatched on my hand it hardly delivers any color payoff and it hardly shows up on my eyes.

Unedited- a matte dark brown; again-it looks much more pigmented in the pan than in a swatch; it performs slightly better applied to my eyelids.

Swatches of the Bottom Row from R to L: Unlocked, Unlimited, Unleashed, Unwind, Unafraid.

Unlocked- a shimmery butter yellow shade, another perfect highlighting shade.

Unlimited- a shimmery true yellow gold with orange undertone.

Unleashed- mettalic copper gold, an absolute favorite in this palette; I could wear it on its own for the rest of my life and never look back.

Unwind- a matte muted brown, hardly any color pay off, similar to Undeniable.

Unafraid- a deep chocolate brown with tiny  speckles of gold glitter, a beautiful transitional color.

Although all the shades are clearly in the same gold color family, they are all very different and versatile and you can create a whole lot of different looks with them. The packaging says that the shimmery shades can be used with a wet brush as well. I do wish the matte shades performed better as they would be perfect crease colors. They are workable, just require more work than I am used to. I still think the palette is a great buy and I have been wearing it almost every day since my husband gifted it to me on Valentine’s Day.

I have no problem with the colors fading, they last on me all day. And for $42.00 it is a palette I’d highly recommend to anyone who loves nude eyeshadows but is looking for something more unique. Unzipped Gold palette is definitely not a boring one and I can’t wait to wear it in the summer paired with a golden bronzer. I think the gold shades will look beautiful reflected by the sun rays.

What is your first impression of the Lorac Unzipped Gold palette? Do you own the original Unzipped palette? Are you a fan of Lorac comsetics in general? Would you like to see a look featuring this palette?
