Hi Pat,

Which version of Windows are you using? If it is Windows 7 and you have the Aero Glass theme with transparent window borders active this may be the cause. Aero Glass causes all kinds of problems with capture programs, and the screenshots also don't look so good as the transparency doesn't come across so well. If you right-click on your Windows desktop, select Personalize and use a theme without the transparency effect you may find that the problem goes away, and your screenshots are also better for documentation. You should restart Windows and Help+Manual after doing this.

Another possible cause is having more than one monitor and trying to perform the capture on the second monitor. This depends on the graphics card driver software. With some cards, you can only perform captures on the main or primary monitor. So if you move the program to the other monitor and try to capture there you may find that it then works.

Capture works a lot better with Windows 8 and 10, where Microsoft has returned to a much more robust display system for windows. I would generally recommend moving to Windows 10.
