The items are nicely secured in separate bags and bubble wrap with a cute whale on the box lid!
Everything in my July box!
Beaded Bookmark: Perfect to slip in to a mermaid tale to hold your place in the story!
Friendship Bracelet: Even though it’s fabric it will hold up well to waterborne adventures:
Mermaid Planner Stickers
There were quite a few stickers in this bundle – all useful with pretty purple and blues. Even mermaids need reminded to go to the gym!
Mermaid Greeting Cards: A set of handmade greeting cards was included to send watery missives to your pals.
I love the effect of the gold on the card in the upper left. All of these cards were bright and fun, and the set included a little koi sticker too.
Shell Crayons: A set of glittery shell crayons.
Mermaid Pouch: This hand-painted pouch featured 3 crystal bubbles!
Inside was a blue holo notebook, a pink glitter pencil, and a cute dolphin eraser!
I thought the remove my seaweed stickers were the cutest. What a fun idea!
Welcome aboard! The tiniest and cutest little seashell studs were inside. I liked the glittery mermaid at heart hangup (definitely making it into my daughter’s room). The mermaid at heart magnet wasn’t very sturdy and didn’t fare so well.
Mermaid Life Bracelet: Every subscriber receives this bracelet in their first box. Mermaid life!
The other side reads “salty kisses & starfish wishes”!
This was a fun idea. No note was included in the box on what you might use it for.
I’m thinking a mer-gal might use it to write starfish wishes on the individual papers?
Seashell Hair Clip: This is a pretty delicate hair clip and may not last forever, but it definitely matches the theme of this box!
The Mermaid Girl by Erika Swyler
From Erika Swyler, author of The Book of Speculation—one of BuzzFeed’s Best Fiction Books of 2015– a short story of a mermaid who ran away from the circus, and what happened when she started a life on land.
Before she was a suburban wife and mother, Paulina Watson was the Mermaid Girl of Carnival Lareille. She traveled everywhere with two boxes: the first with red sequins for the dress she wore as a magician’s assistant, the second with green sequins for her mermaid tail. She’d grown up on wild stories told by wild circus people. Books, she hadn’t had books until she’d found Daniel Watson and stopped moving.
The first time Daniel saw her, Paulina was floating in a glass tank, suspended in water that sparkled like it was made from night sky. She has settled down now, living in a house on a cliff on Long Island Sound with Daniel and their young family: six-year-old Simon and his baby sister, Enola. But if you steal the magician’s assistant from a carnival, how can you know if she’ll disappear?
Two Mermaid Postcards were included. These were on thin, lightweight paper but my daughter will enjoy coloring them.
I loved this notebook, which I believe is perfectly sized to fit into a ringbound planner.
The inside is colored!
This merlicious box is certainly focused on handmade and unique items but there’s a lot packed in here, and a lot of whimsy, too. They have a screaming deal if you want to subscribe to a year – get four free large boxes with one annual payment of $160. If you live the mer-life it seems like a lot of fun to get a box of mermaid goodies each month!
