The POPSUGAR CFDA Special Edition Box was a one-time box offered by POPSUGAR and the CFDA with unique fashion forward items for summer. Half of the PSMH proceeds from the box were donated to the CFDA.

If you’re unfamiliar with them, POPSUGAR Must Have Box is a monthly women’s subscription box. You’ll receive items from a mix of categories like beauty, home, accessories, jewelry, etc. It’s one of the most popular subscription boxes around!

The updated branding for the Special Edition boxes is modern and fabulous!

The information card was hiding under the top layer of tissue.

I love the packaging for this box – each item is wrapped individually in tissue, so it’s really a special present just for you!

Nearly everything in this box comes in re-giftable form with nice outer packaging (and that’s true of all Special Edition POPSUGAR boxes!).

For the second year in a row, we’re proud to launch our limited-edition Must Have box with the Council of Fashion Designers of America. This fashion collaboration has little luxuries perfect for a relaxing day by the pool or a weekend filled with sun and music. Fifty percent of POPSUGAR’s profits from each box will be donated to the CFDA, in support of the CFDA mission to strengthen American fashion in the global economy.

The fold-out information card has the details on each item!

6 items in this box. This box was $225, so $37.50 per item.

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Dry Shampoo ($28) I admit – I love MK&A’s line and tend to pick up the scents as freebies from Sephora. I was thrilled to get more dry shampoo because I use it – all of it, every speck I get! This one has notes of Violet, Sandalwood and Vanilla and the aerosol (which obviously it has, look at that crazy warning label!) really blasts out. I’ve never had to practice using a dry shampoo so much! I loved the scent of this one, musky with a bit of floral. It did nice things to my hair and I’d buy more of it.

Illesteva Leonard Sunglasses ($177) The packaging on these specs was totally ridiculous.

This is the biggest sunglasses case I have ever experienced.

Inside were the glasses and a nice microfiber pouch.

These have a weird bridge on the nose, but looked pretty good on me. I had LASIK on Friday so I will wear any sunglasses right now because it’s all so exciting. I can put them on top of my head, which is really quite awesome. I digress. Handmade in Italy and will go with anything!

S’well Shadow Water Bottle ($32)

ThermaS’well technology keeps your drinks cold for 24 hours or hot for 12.

And S’well support clean water initiatives!

9 oz capacity, double-walled stainless steel. I think this one is good to pop in your bag without overloading it.

The design is from Lizzie Fortunato.

3.1 Phillip Lim 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 31 Nano Second Pouch ($195) This is my favorite. I don’t like the “10 Year Anniversary” thing on top but I think the design is pretty and the leather is mostly high quality.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby Fragrance Collection Gift Set ($95) This fragrance set was inspired by women on Crosby Street. I love perfumers – such an interesting way to express artistic ideas.

The set includes:

Silent St.: White Musks.

Looking Glass: Chinese Magnolia, Tonka Bean Madagascar

Hi-Fi: Pink Peony, French Narcisse

Drunk On Youth: Crisp Apple, Honeysuckle

Afloat: White Mimosa, Orris

Rain Day: Neroli Tunisia, Vetiver Haiti

Something Wild: Cedarwood, Vanilla Bean Madagascar

Ellipsis: Australian Sandalwood, Jasmine

Blackout: Osmanthus, Chai Tea Essence

2am Kiss: Salty Wood, Crystalized Amber

This set is amazing! It’s gorgeous first of all and totally perfect to display on a vanity. You can mix and match the scents or just wear a single fragrance. The first one I picked was the purple one and it smelled exactly like I expected.

The sprayers are a generous size – 0.25 ounces each.

Do you prefer hand or ruler?

lemlem Split Cover Up ($198 – links to similar that’s currently on clearance for $115) Model Liya Kebede founded lemlem to support The Liya Kebede Foundation, which works to address access to life-saving maternity care in Africa. With its giving partners LKF aims to make childbirth safer by training midwives who provide care near where we source and manufacture. 5% of all sales and proceeds from special promotions support LKFs work to help African moms thrive.

The fabric is hand-woven by Ethiopian artists and is 85% cotton, 15% acrylic – and incredibly sheer! This is two layers. I love the colors and the fringe, but I’m going to be honest, this was designed to be relatively loose on a tall size small model. It’s not for me. I requested the larger size replacement and heard back from PSMH customer service almost immediately.

I think I found the perfect person for this coverup! I think it will fit a medium pretty good but anyone larger than that would have issues. I actually like this coverup for what it is, uneven hem and non-matching sides and all! I hope the replacement fits well.

I disliked last year’s CFDA box that I took advantage of the return (because of their valuation error) and sent it back unopened – I thought the curation was just so off! I just looked at what was in the 2015 CFDA box again and I don’t regret that one bit – even if I have no review to show.

The 2016 CFDA box was a complete turnaround! I was frankly surprised they did it at all given the previous box but I’m pretty blown away at the curation. I don’t love everything but I was in love with most of it (pouch ☑ fragrance ☑ sunglasses ☑ dry shampoo ☑☑!) and ok with the rest. I thought the design was good (if even a little safe) but it really highlighted the work of some fashion-forward designers and was a great collaboration!

Did you get a CFDA Box? What did you think? At the time of this post, the POPSUGAR x CFDA box is still available, as is the slightly less spendy Summer 2016 Special Edition Box!
