Loot Gaming is a new monthly subscription box from Loot Crate featuring collectibles, apparel, accessories and more from the biggest and best video game universes. Each box will have $60 in items, plus a booklet/mini-mag and pin.

Laaaa!

So many things, including a nod to Nuka Cola!

Everything in the box! The first Loot Gaming box for April 2016 had the theme METRO. And it even came in the right month!

Every box comes with a mini-mag – called The Game Manual for Loot Gaming. I was particularly impressed by the style of this one.

I loved how the item pages give you extra game knowledge and information, instead of just being about the item!

Yay! Instead of a weird notes page they added photos of featured looters. Please come organize my house!

April 2016 Metro Pin – The Loot Gaming pins are designed to look like game tokens/coins. This design was all Bioshock and Tomorrowland in my head.

The Division Loot Gaming Exclusive Weapon Skin: Your subscription comes with a code for an exclusive skin to apply to any weapon in Tom Clancy’s The Division. The letter to subscribers is also on the right. This box was inspired by the 20th anniversary of Resident Evil and dedicated to games with hazardous urban areas.

Your email looks like this if you missed it.

Exclusive Resident Evil S.T.A.R.S. Beanie ($15?) 100% acetate with a Special Tactics and Rescue Service patch! Nice way to pretend you’re elite while playing. This item was a little odd in an end of April box. I wear a hat all winter but stopped wearing one weeks ago.

Exclusive Fallout Metal Print ($15?) This is really neat because it has concept art from Fallout 4! Great artwork and cool item – just like with Loot Crate DX (read my April review of Loot Crate DX), it’s something that’s on the small side, so it will look best in a gallery wall situation. But no doubt that it will look cool.

The Division 16GB USB with exclusive DLC ($10?) I’m not sure why they mentioned the DLC here, because it was already separately in the booklet (there’s nothing on the USB drive itself). It comes in this cool metal tin worthy of an AK-47 USB drive.

Yesss. This is easily my favorite item!

I think this is hilarious. I’m usually in need of a USB drive a few times a week, so this will get used! I better stop pulling the mag in and out but I’m semi-obsessed with it.

Exclusive Bioshock 2 Shirt ($10)

Big Daddy!

Exclusive artwork by “The Coop.” There’s only one artist I associate with the name Coop, and I don’t believe this is it (it’s NSFW or children). Let me know if you do!

The shirt features the underwater city of Rapture. You can see the sea flora and fauna and the bubbles. FYI – this shirt looks good on boobs. Just sayin – sometimes I get a shirt that was not designed with boobs in mind. This looks fine although the whole fisheye view becomes mildly distorted.

Exclusive Mirror’s Edge Watch ($15?) I want to say this is really similar to a watch that was in Nerd Block about 2 or 2.5 years ago. It has cool circuit board-esque printing on it.

And also has the Mirror’s Edge mark on it. I found a similar Pokémon watch from the same company on Zulily for $10. Anyhow, I think it has a legitimately cool style and is useful if you don’t have another watch. Or a fitbit. If you wear a watch (which I quit doing 15 years ago).

I thought the April Loot Gaming was a good box!! Better in some respects than the first box (everything was exclusive!) but I thought some of the items were a little less special (the whole HALO scarf thing was hard to beat and seemed like more of a special edition box item). I’m still not seeing ‘connected apparel that unlocks exclusive in-game items and physical versions of in-game items so you can own a piece of that gaming universe’. I guess the beanie counts for the latter and actual game props might be kind of not useful for most fans. This box was also highly themed and I didn’t see the variety in types of games I wanted to see – I’m somewhat expecting a totally different box next month!
