A wild Memebox appears!

I'm sure some of you have been totally overwhelmed by the number of Memeboxes that have been coming out recently, but I have to say, I think #9 is my favorite of all the ones I've received thus far. So if you haven't peeked into box #9 yet do read on to have a look!

Before I get into the contents of box #9, let me briefly explain what this is all about in case you're unaware: Memebox (pronounced "Mi-mi-box") is a Korean, non-subscription beauty box service and online beauty shop. Each month they release a few mystery boxes containing a mixture of different full-sized beauty products and deluxe samples, which you can purchase as you wish for $23 apiece (plus $6.99 shipping to the United States).

Memebox also releases limited edition themed boxes at various prices. Since Memebox is a Korean company, the emphasis of these boxes is mainly on Korean brands (no shocker there). They currently ship to the following countries: Australia, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzland, Taiwan, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the USA. If you're a new customer, you can save $7 off your first box - info at the bottom of the post.

Unboxing time! There were seven things this time. Seven GLORIOUS things.

Botanic Hill Boh Ampoule Essences (Sample sizes 4ml & 5ml, approximate value $7.20):
In "Moist Youth" and "Radiant Youth". These are supposedly like an "ampoule, essence and oil all at once!" For those who aren't familiar with Korean skincare brands, those are just three the of many moisturizing steps that some skincare lines have. Therefore, I think it's reasonable to assume that these will provide moisture. They're supposed to have anti-aging benefits, so I guess that makes sense. I haven't got a clue what's in them, but ampoules and serums and essences are things I use, so sure, I'll give it a shot.

Savia Magic Countdown 7 Days EGF & Multi-Peptide (Full size 5ml, value $30.00):
This product is supposed to "prevent you from skin troubles" and is "an absolutely effective item for achieving the healthy and energetic skin tone!" How wonderfully vague. In any case it's an ampoule. Ampoules are like intensive serums, and they usually target specific skin issues, but in this case I'm not exactly sure what they would be. If I can figure out what's in it I'll probably try it!

Luna Wonder Essential BB Foundation - Shade #21 (Sample size 15ml, approximate value $13.13):
I like trying new BB creams. BB creams are good. This one has a nice, light texture. Shade #21 is probably my "summer shade" (if I were to spend any time in the sun, that is), but this particular one leans a bit yellow so I probably won't be hunting down the full size. Oh well, it was worth a try!

Ellegirl I Say Tint, You Say Gloss in Rock Berry (Full size 5ml, value $23.00):
Memebox #9 customers were sent one of three shades of this gloss tint at random. "Rock Berry" is a vivid fuschia in the tube, but is sheer enough for everyday wear on the lips. I love this product a lot - the glossiness doesn't last any longer than a typical lip gloss, but it does leave a subtle stain behind on the lips. Flattering color + non-drying formula = yes oh yes, I am quite pleased.

Swatches of the BB cream and gloss tint. In case you weren't sure.

Jaminkyung Gokmul Care Creamy Cleansing Masque (Full size 100ml, value $45.00):
This is a multi-purpose product that can be used as a cleanser, mask, or scrub. It looks earthy and comes with a little spatula. I haven't tried it yet so I can't offer any further commentary at this point, but this seems like an interesting thing to try, plus I appreciate that I got a full-sized jar to experiment with.

Kerasys Oriental Premium Shampoo (Sample size 200g, approximate value $30.00):
A nourishing shampoo that's supposed to repair split ends. This smells nice, but whoaaaa do you see that price tag? The full-size (600g) bottle sells for $90. Maybe this is a bit presumptuous of me, but I have a feeling that most Memebox customers don't buy $90 shampoo on the regular (I know I don't). Who knows though, I could be wrong.

25CC Hairbooster (Full size 25ml, value $23.00):
A "hair revitalizing protein treatment". Or in other words, a conditioning masque. I am both amused and frightened that it comes in a syringe/turkey baster type applicator. I can't help but think of this inside joke I had with a friend years ago - it's way too boring to explain in full, but the punchline of the joke was for one of us to say "I'll give YOU and injection" with an eyebrow waggle. Classy stuff.

Like my 25CCs of hair boosting power? I'll give YOU an injection.

Total value: Approximately $171.33

Overall impressions:
I thought this was a great box all around. Even if you ignore the overall retail value (which is IMMENSE), I felt like it had a really good balance of things that complemented other items in the box. For example, we got shampoo but also a conditioning treatment, BB cream but also a lip product, etc... I suppose there were two ampoule treatments, but considering the overall contents of the box I don't think that's a bad thing at all.

Get $7 off your first Memebox order:
Brand new customers can get 5 Memebox points for writing their customer service and letting them know you were referred by Hello Pretty Bird, plus you'll also get 2 points just for signing up for an account. Each point is equivalent to one dollar and can be used towards anything on the Memebox site. Make sure you're also signed up to receive their e-mails, because they sometimes send out promo codes for free shipping or other discounts!

What do you think of Memebox #9? If you purchased it, did you get the same lip gloss/tint?
