I love a good project, especially if it’s made with something fun and colorful like a map.
Today, I’ve rounded up over 15 DIY ideas for decorating with maps. These projects are perfect for using that map from a favorite trip or the vintage map you picked up at the flea market. Plus, there’s something for everyone, from tablescapes to DIY artwork!

Aren’t these Vintage Map Decoupaged Pots from 365 Designs gorgeous? Much cooler than your basic terracotta pot.
Commemorate a fun trip or favorite city by covering inexpensive paper mache letters with maps you picked up on your vacation. Simply apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to the letters with a foam brush and then attach cut-to-size maps.
After they dry, cover everything with another layer of Mod Podge to seal the letters.

One of my favorite DIY ideas for decorating with maps is covering furniture. I especially love this gorgeous Decoupaged Map Table from Girl in the Garage. Try this on other pieces of furniture, too!
These World Map Wall Panels from Tried & True are a showstopper! She used a Silhouette machine to cut out the maps, but you could use a stencil, too.
I love the beautiful patina on this DIY Antique Map Wall Clock from Crafts Unleashed.
This lovely tablescape from The Country Chic Cottage stopped me in my tracks … must have been the stripes! Look a closer and you will see the Vintage Map Placemats.It’s hard to tell, but this Giant Map Wall Art from Domestic Imperfection is over 4 feet square. Even better: she only spent about $30 to print the map and make the frame!

Why not frame your favorite vacation pic in a DIY Map-Covered Frame? I have a ton of these inexpensive frames from Target in my apartment, and they’d be perfect for this project.
Since the frame has a mat, you could cover the frame, mat, or even both. If you’re covering the frame, lightly scuff it with some sand paper first. Then, simply apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to the frame/mat with a foam brush and attach the cut-to-size maps.
After the frame/mat is dry, cover everything with another layer of Mod Podge to seal it.
