Nakumatt Auditor was killed for exposing theft by senior managers
The senior Nakumatt auditor was assassinated by a police officer hired by a cartel of staff stealing money from the company. ‘
It was on May 7 when James Karanja, the auditor, was coming from his office in Mombasa road when a lone man in a motor cycle shot him twice and ended his life. The criminals did not steal anything from him.
Investigators from the Flying Squad unit and Makadara CID have been probing the suspicious murder and on Monday, they arrested the said bodaboda operator who allegedly rode the police officer to Mombasa road. Dennis Maroko, the bodaboda operator said that he had been hired to take Ezekiel Onsongo, the Runda Police station officer, to the scene where he shot Karanja.
Maroko said that he had not been involved in the planning of the murder.
Also arrested is the supermarket’s accounts manager Philip Manyura who is said to have taken part in planning the murder.
The investigators suspect that Karanja was killed after exposing a major fraud scandal at Nakumatt.
Maroko, Onsongo and Manyura will be taken to court today.
