10 things you did not know about Grace Ogot
Speaking of phenomenal women you can count Grace Ogutu in. She is one of the most remarkable women who ever lived. We can say that she and Maya Angelou are cut from the same cloth.
Here is some of the things you didnt know about her:
1: She was born Grace Emily Akinyi in 1930
2: Her father Joseph Nyanduda was on of the 1st men in his village to obtain a western education.
3: She was a trained nurse
4: She once worked at Makerere University in student health services
5: In 1975 she worked as Kenyan delegate to the National Assembly of United Nations.
6: She became a member of UNESCO that same year
7: In 1983 she served as a member of parliament and only woman assistant minister to the cabinet of President Daniel Arap Moi
8: She was married to a historian professor, Bethwell Allan Ogot
9: In 1962 Grace got to read her story ‘A Year of Sacrifice’ at a conference of African Literature in Makerere University Uganda
10. She wrote the following books:
