Host a Football Party: Football Food Tips forFeeding a Crowd

 

The party should start at least 30 minutes before the game starts to allow people plenty of time to get food and settle in before kick-off.

Our favorite variation on the classic 7-Layer Dip is to make it Mediterranean. In an EZ Foil Pan, layer hummus, baba ganoush, crumbled feta cheese, sliced grape tomatoes, diced cucumbers, diced red onions and kalamata olives. Serve it with pita chips.

Update the classic Super Bowl Squares game for that day’s games so everyone has a result they can root for. Add to the fun and get prizes for each quarter.

Cold beverages won’t stay as cold if people are opening and closing the refrigerator all afternoon. Fill a metal tub or plastic container (like Storage Solutions) with ice and periodically refill with refreshments straight from the refrigerator.

Halftime! Use the break in the action to replenish the food table. Swap out some of your savory dishes for something sweet.

Disposable tableware makes it easier for you to be at the party instead of on dish duty.

Offer an alternative for people who aren’t as into the game. Set up a space in another room so people can eat, drink and converse without interfering.

Wings! Everyone’s favorite finger food gets more fun when you offer different ways to dip. Besides the standard blue cheese, consider adding new accompaniments like sweet and sour, peanut or Jamaican jerk sauce.

Now, before everyone leaves, set out disposable food containers and invite your guests to take home leftovers.
