Birthday parties are a great opportunity to have fun with a theme, and really indulge your little boy and make the day all about the characters that he loves the most. Here are five of the best boys birthday party themes and how to pull them off like supermum!

1 – Superhero

All boys love superheroes – whether they’re little or not so little anymore – and a superhero theme gives you loads of scope. You could focus on just one particular hero (your son’s fave), so Batman, Spiderman or Superman, maybe, or make it just superheroes in general so that guests can dress up as their favourite. Another idea is an Avengers heroes party (think Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America). You’ll find superhero party accessories available both online, in party shops and at supermarkets, making it an easy theme to do well.

2 – TMNT

The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film is sure to revive this retro toy for a new generation of young boys, with Turtle parties being super easy to do. A green theme for tablewear is the obvious choice, and there can be only one option for the catering – pizza of course! Kowabunga, dudes!

3 – WWE

Older boys may be interested in WWE, and it’s an easy dress up theme for a party, whether their favourite is John Cena, Kane or CM Punk. Rather than letting them go wild with wrestling tournaments however, why not look into hiring an inflatable sumo wrestling costume set that they can have fun with? Or, if you have a WWE game on the console, set up a tournament to prevent real live injuries!

4 – Pirates

A pirates theme is popular for younger boys, with dressing up outfits available for little pirate all year round. A soft play centre is a good idea for this one – and if you can find a pirate or seaside themed one near you then so much the better. Alternatively, if you live by the beach or near a summer city beach or sand play area, sand-based play and games would be fun. Treasure hunts, chocolate coins and parrot piñatas are essential!

5 – Football

Football mad boys of all ages will love a good football party, and you can often book them at local leisure centres or sports facilities, with professional coaching included Or, for a summer party, why not take the tribe to a nearby football pitch, park or playing field for a free kickaround, followed by a party picnic on the grass?

Everyone loves a good birthday party – especially the birthday boy in question. Spoil him with a party themed on his favourite characters or sport and give him a day to remember full of friends, fun and fancy dress!

You can pick up great value boys fancy dress costumes at George at ASDA, so why not let the birthday boy look online and choose his favourite, then base your theme around that?
