Meat Choice

Beef



An excellent level of digestible protein, beef offers a good choice for active dogs and their growing requirements. For fit and healthy pets that have no common complaints, beef will be one of its favourites. Beef is easily accepted and enjoyed by pets at all stages of their life.

On the other hand red meat can promote inflammation, so if your pet has joint issues or any sort of inflammatory or degenerative condition, this might not be the flavour for it. Meat such as Kangaroo would be a better choice.

Lamb



Lamb is often referred to as a “cooling” meat – a reference to its anti-inflammatory capacities. While being a red meat, it does not have some of the properties of beef, which can promote inflammation.

Lamb is often described as being pure, due to almost no exposure to grain and the chemical toxins (grain-fed, antibiotics), because lambs are raised and fed on pastures.

A much fattier meat, and just like chicken, it also has higher levels of Omega 3 offering assistance in maintaining healthy coats and skin.

Lamb is a meat for all stages of your pet’s life but if it is overweight, this might not be the one to start it on. After its weight has been reduced, this would be a good protein choice.

Chicken

Chicken is easily accepted at all stages of your pet’s life, and is recommended as the flavour to introduce to your puppy when it starts to eat raw food.

With excellent levels of vitamins, minerals, nutrients and essential fatty acids (EFAs) in a readily available and digestible form. Chicken offers better levels than some of the other proteins with regard to the EFA, Omega 3, and is responsible for a healthy coat and skin, as well as cardiovascular muscle and cell health.

Containing nutrient-dense bone marrow, raw chicken bones which is a superior, natural, energy-giving and well-being ingredient. They also contain good coverage of healthy digestible cartilage – excellent for joints and cancer prevention.

Kangaroo

Kangaroo being a wild game meat is a very popular flavour for dogs. Kangaroo meat offers the lowest fat content in any of the diets, making it an excellent choice for dogs that are overweight, or dogs that cannot eat diets high in fat. It is the perfect meat for dogs that have special dietary requirements.

This meat offers the highest level of protein of any of the meat types and is also a very digestible, natural source, free from any contaminants due to being wild and all natural.

The kangaroo diet can be fed through all stages of your pet’s life. Because of the low fat content, it is recommended that it be rotated with the other flavours to ensure that healthy weights are maintained.

Offal Meat

Offal meat (liver, heart, kidneys) is the most concentrated source of vitamin A. It also contains vitamins D, E, and K in substantial quantities. Liver is an excellent source of the minerals zinc, manganese, selenium and iron. It also contains all the B vitamins, B2, B3, B5, biotin, folacin, B12, choline, and inositol. It contains B1 in adequate or smaller amounts and is a good source of vitamin C. Liver provides a source of good quality protein and the essential fatty acids, both the omega-3 and omega-6 type. It’s a fantastic food for your dog.

Sardines

Sardines are a healthy source of protein and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which aid in making your furry friend’s skin and coat healthy and shiny. They also boost your dog’s immune system and help reduce inflammation in the body caused by allergies, arthritis and other conditions. Fatty acids also have been shown to improve brain development and help fight cancer.

Free Range Whole Eggs

Eggs are a whole food, is the perfect protein source. Broccoli -full of vitamin C, beta carotene, folic acid, calcium, fibre and chromium. Phyto-chemicals prevent carcinogens from forming, stop carcinogens from getting to target cells and boost enzymes that detoxify carcinogens.
Carrots -The richest source of pro-vitamin A carotenes. Beta carotene is also a powerful antioxidant, containing vitamins B, C, D, E, K, riboflavin, niacin, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, sodium, and iron. Carrots nourish the optic nerve and significantly improve eyesight in your dog.
Cabbage –ideal food for weight loss, low in fat and high in fibre, is full of vitamin K and anthocyanins that help with mental function, concentration and prevent nerve damage. Promotes healthy hair and skin, removes toxins and detoxifies the body. Containing well-known cancer preventative compounds ,it also helps keep blood pressure low and has anti-inflammatory properties and lowers blood sugar.

Cauliflower –Is rich in vitamins and minerals such as vitamin K, protein, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, magnesium, phosphorus, fiber, vitamin B6, folate, pantothenic acid, potassium, and manganese. Rich in vitamin C, beta-carotene, quercetin, rutin and cinnamic acid. Has digestive benefits due to its high fibre content, detoxifies the body is an anti-inflammatory. Cauliflower also boosts heart health and has cancer fighting properties.

Seasonal Fruits

Apples – High in non-pro-vitamin A carotenes and pectin. Pectin can improve the intestinal muscle’s ability to push waste through the gastrointestinal tract. Pectin also binds to and eliminates toxins in the gut. Rich in beta carotene, vitamin C and several B complex vitamins including vitamin B6, folic acid and lots of potassium.
Pears -An excellent source of water-soluble fiber, including pectin and vitamin C which makes them useful in toning the intestines. Deep Sea Fish Oil

EPA, one of the two omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil, acts as an anti-inflammatory. It helps with  inflammation of the heart, kidneys, skin, and joints—such as arthritis. It will ease inflammation due to allergies, and reduce itchy skin and dandruff. This can also be an effective way to potentially decrease hotspots on your pet. It promotes a shiny, healthy coat, and reduces shedding. DHA, the other omega-3 fatty acid in fish oil, is important in brain and eye development in puppies and kittens. Milk thistle should be considered as an aid to healing after drug therapy, vaccinations, and infections such as canine parvovirus, as well as an potential adjunct treatment for cancer and supports the immune system.
