Everyday Essential Oils: The Basic 10
I started with the premium starter kit because it was the best value! Along with the diffuser, it included the basic ten everyday essential oils: Joy, Valor, Purification, PanAway, Frankincense, Peppermint, Peace & Calming, Lavender, Lemon and today’s featured everyday essential oil Thieves.
I have found the easiest way to get started with the oils is to learn about them one at a time using the Everyday Oils Pocket Reference.
There are 3 ways to use Young Living essential oils:
Aromatic. Aromatic is the process of breathing in the essential oil. This can be done by using an essential oil diffuser, inhaling directly from the bottle or by adding a few drops to hands and cupping over nose and mouth.
Topical. Topical application is the process of applying essential oil directly to the area of concern along with the ears, hands and feet. Some oils can be applied directly and others need to be diluted with a carrier oil. Oils can also be added to bathwater or in a warm compress.
Internal. Internal use can be done by adding essential oil to a liquid and drinking or adding to a capsule and swallowing. (This applies to Young Living 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oil ONLY!)
Everyday Essential Oils: Thieves
Today’s featured everyday essential oil is Thieves. This is Young Living’s most popular essential oil — and for good reason! Thieves is an amazing blend of highly antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-infectious essential oil. It was created from research based on the legends about a group of 15th century thieves who rubbed oils on themselves to avoid contracting the plague while they robbed the bodies of the dead and dying. When apprehended, the thieves were forced to tell what their secret was and disclosed the formula of the herbs, spices and oils they used to protect themselves. Studies have since been conducted to demonstrate the killing power of these amazing oils against airborne microorganisms.
Thieves is an essential oil blend containing clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus and rosemary. Combined these oils provide a hostile environment for viruses, bacteria, parasites, infections, inflammation, microbes and fungi.
By combining Thieves essential oil with a few basic household items such as; vinegar, baking soda, carrier oils, or water – you can easily create various different cleaning products and simple first aid remedies.
Basic Uses of Thieves Everyday Essential Oil
Diffuse: during cold/flu season diffuse daily to eliminate airborne bacteria.
Headache: put a drop on your thumb and push thumb on the roof of your mouth for a few minutes to stop a headache.
Bronchitis: dilute 2-6 drops with carrier oil and rub on chest, upper back and tops of feet.
Cold & Flu: diffuse, apply 1 drop to the bottom of each foot, consume 1 drop in 8 oz glass of water.
Cold Sore/Fever Blister: 1 drop threes times per day applied to area until gone.
Fungal/Infections: 1-2 drops on affected area, 2-3 times per day until gone.
Strep Throat: 2-4 drops in water and gargle as needed.
DIY Dryer Sheet: 4-6 drops on a damp washcloth, toss in dryer with laundry, dry.
Sanitize: Put 12-18 drops in a 14oz. spray bottle filled with water and spray surfaces to clean and disinfect countertops.
