September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and HealthCare Scouts is partnering with the American Children’s Cancer Organization to raise funds and awareness for the nation’s smallest cancer patients.
On September 15th, we are “Going Gold for Kids with Cancer.” Like other forms of cancer, childhood cancer has an international symbol, the gold ribbon. This is an easily-recognizable symbol to unite under, if people know what it means. Sadly, when asked, most people would not be able to identify the gold ribbon as the symbol for childhood cancer awareness. Gold was selected for children’s cancer awareness because gold is a precious metal, and children are as precious as gold.
We encourage you to wear gold and share photos on social media with the hashtag #GoGold. By “Going Gold” we are increasing public knowledge about the Gold Ribbon and what it symbolizes.
