Plus, a few creative brand names added for good measure:

• Dharma Bums (Okay, not a blog, but a brilliant name nonetheless!)

• Mukti Organics – Mukti stands for freedom and liberation

• MyGoodness Organics

• Naked Treaties

Before I wrap up this post, I also want to address a question I am regularly asked:

Should I register a blog name or my own name as my domain?

Great question, right?!

My answer is always along the lines of  ‘what feels right for you?’

While registering your own name as your blog’s domain is ideal for personal brand building, it can feel a little unnerving for some.

Personally, I believe when you are starting a blog or business, in a field that’s new to you, it can feel more comfortable choosing a blog / business name that is separate to your own for one of two reasons:

1 // It may feel difficult (to some) at this early stage to build a personal brand and position yourself as an expert when you’re only new to the game (hello imposter syndrome!)

2 // Although who you are and what you do might be one and the same, in an online sense, presenting ‘You, the person’ as a brand based solely on what you do, may feel a little out of alignment because you yourself feel like ‘Well, there’s just so much more to me than what I blog about’ – this was the case for me!

If you use a separate blog name, I would register your own name in the domain directory anyway and hold onto it so that it’s available in the future – you never know when you might decide to use it, and take it from me – when your full name isn’t available because someone else beat you to it, it can be incredibly frustrating (thank goodness for .co names is all I have to say on that!)!

ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE

Register and use your own name as a domain, and create a title for yourself that describes what you do. This is what I do with hayleyrichardson.co and The Blog Whisperer – I am simultaneously building a brand as a communications coach for bloggers, while also helping to build recognition of my own name for later on. Since adding the title of The Blog Whisperer, I have felt much more comfortable putting myself out into the online world.

SO TELL ME:

In the comments, please share:

• What’s your favourite creative blog name from the list above?

• What’s your own creative blog name? (Maybe it’s even on this list?!)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts in the comments – as always they are read, loved and appreciated!
