Landing in my in box was a breaking news release stating the following,

“Musician Mark McGrath has died at the age of 46. McGrath was on set filming the second season of entertainment show Hot Package, when he was confronted by a masked gunman and shot several times. The former Sugar Ray frontman died in the arms of his co-host Derrick Beckles on the Hollywood set of the show.

In honor of Mr. McGrath’s legacy, his team is asking in liu of flowers, fans post a Sugar Ray Selfie, holding a packet of sugar over their heart. #RIPMARKMCGRATH”

We reached out to McGrath’s public relations firm and we can confirm the death of Mark McGrath is FAKE. He is alive and well.

In liu of flowers hold a packet of sugar over your heart? That immediately should have been the clue that McGrath was alive.

Anyone else tired of the celebrity death hoax’s? If the story looks ridiculous and sounds ridiculous and far-fetched there is a good chance it is ridiculous.

Thankfully, before running with the story and trying to be the first to report, we checked the news source.

The death hoax’s began years ago with Adam Sandler, but have advanced quite a bit. From dying in a skiing accident to being killed by a masked man and dying in someone’s arms?

Axle Rose was also a victim of a death hoax last month.

The best we can do is not feed into it and look at the source before we report on it or before it becomes a trending store on Twitter.

Mark McGrath is most famous for being a member of Sugar Ray. In 2013, He appeared on Celebrity Wife Swap and the penultimate episode of The Office. McGrath continued his TV appearances in 2014 by guest starring on ABC’s The Neighbors, hosting truTv’s Killer Karaoke and starring in Sharknado 2: The Second One.
